Cheesecake is really only a cake in name, I would put it more in the technical realm of "custard" more than anything.

Pie is way better than cake.

Tbh, I'm entirely neutral on the subject. It's a dessert by dessert basis. I love lemon meringue but I've had shitty versions of it. Same goes with various cakes.
