also: if people are struggling with the paired category how would yall feel about like a mock training event wherein you can just throw 2 any old songs at me in the thread and i will assign them a catfit score accompanied by a little writeup? would that help at all
The paired category will probably be easy for me when I have a breakthrough as a cut throat competitive I demand that others not receive helpsssss
"Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"
"Well, I..."
"What? Nothing? You would make the prince suffer over... nothing?"

Personally I agree that paired submissions should be twice as many points.
I also would not be opposed to doing a training run -- I can do paired songs easily, but I'm worried that my current submissions are too high-concept. I would submit them to the training run and change to something else after I got a sense of what would be noticeable.
any chance u could do the Thing Wot Schadd Did and include a link or two to songs that fit each cat to you? no worries if not i get that's no small effort but it really helped a lot with getting the vibes for some of the more eclectic cats
Meh,
I think everyone now has a digital trail all over the site about what they like to listen to
at the very least we are just coming from schadd's walrus, so that should be enough to clue everyone in

in this category, quite simply, the catfit points just amplify the enjoyment points. so i'll try to help you figure out what songs i like!
these are my favorite albums. these are my favorite songs. (dont submit those exact ones.)
i like songs that are experimental, or artsy, or present me with something i haven't experienced before. here is a song that did that recently. heres another
i like songs that make interesting use of electronics, especially when they result in a distinctly human feeling. this song does that. (NOISE WARNING) this song does that too.
i like songs that feel like they have a lot of moving parts. this song does. this song does too.
i like songs that are emotive. here's a song that's very tense and sorrowful. here's a song that's very loving.
i like songs that are either very active or rather sparse. here's an active song. here's a more sparse song.

i like pop music
i think you meant to quote
Spoiler:
- i like energetic jazz and jazz fusion AND pop AND folk AND hiphop AND r&b AND electronic AND throwback alt-rock AND most other genres.
- i like korean music, but if it's a kpop song with a cheesy rap verse or one dude with a guitar you might be working at a slight deficit.
- i like music that is introductory to an interesting space, whether that's introducing me to a new musical style or idea, and so on.
- i like sad and gay songs, and relatedly songs that i can think about emotion or love to.
- i like noisy stuff & screaming is usually fine. but some region of noise is so intense as to be unpalatable. mushshagana did a great job at submitting noisy music that i like a lot in schadd's walrus
- i like cocteau twins but usually songs that are too much like cocteau twins just make me want to listen to cocteau twins.
- i like songs that manage to do a lot with a very small amount of musical ideas or samples.
- i like artsy shit. probably an important guiding fact. some people who have song gamed with me describe my music taste as "lesbian."
how about, let's have a soft deadline for like May 19 which is 2 weeks from now and if someone objects, most importantly tris, we can revisit this deadline.
