Normally I'm really really hesitant to have someone's first mafiascum game EVER be a Large Theme. They're their whole different animal. As long as:

• You stick to only HxH as long as you're alive in it
  
• You're aware that there may be 10 or 20 pages on the first real life day, over 100 pages of game in the first game day (it happens!), months of real time where the game is running (this is almost CERTAINLY going to happen), and you're expected to be active and participating for all of it unless you're killed
  
• You can get someone from DDO who has played on mafiascum to vet you here

I'm okay with it, though. This signup thread has a kind of festive air.

Anyone who's only completed 2 or fewer games on site. I believe that's just FUT right now.

To note, most Large Theme mods require 2 or more games completed to play AT ALL. I don't really mind new players getting thrown into a more complex game early, but I do prefer a "make this your only game" clause because I find the most common reason a newbie flake is that they assume their excitement level for mafia right this second will last for the months and months the game goes on. So, for newbies, I'd prefer to either have them be dead QT spectators or at least ONLY in HxH so burnout is less likely.

Well, I play Mafia games for 6~7 years already in a brazilian forum (Don't let the size of the forum get you, this is like, the fifth incarnation), but people there started to get into the same metagame mentality, and I wanted to find a place to renew my game tactics with a whole new bunch of players.

I was thinking about joining a newbie game first and pretend to be a complete newbie to merge into the group, but I prefer thematic games by a large margin. So, here I am.

Well, I play Mafia games for 6~7 years already in a brazilian forum (Don't let the size of the forum get you, this is like, the fifth incarnation), but people there started to get into the same metagame mentality, and I wanted to find a place to renew my game tactics with a whole new bunch of players.

Unfortunately, I don't speak/read Portuguese so I can't rep your record on there. Do you happen to know any scummers who could attest to your play there?

If not, I'd appreciate it if you'd tell me the average kind of mafia game played on there. How many PRs, what are the deadlines, what do d1's tend to be like, etc.

The games there tend to be VERY quick, compared to what I read here. Days of about 2-3 days, and 24 hours night. Scum can talk freely anytime, not only on night. And on games I mod I tend to go low on power roles (I assume that is what PR means), but the average game there almost assumes everyone gets something at least passive or 1-shot. D1 is almost always "Hi, I'm here, let's wait night results, vote: no lynch". And Yes, it is as frustrating as it sounds. Games are around 15-24 players per game and usually last 4-6 game days.

Hmm. On the one hand, you play the kind of mafia that's more common online, a demographic that tends to flake in bigger games like that. On the other, you joined in 2011 and clearly know how it goes here and that nl d1 is dumb.
