If someone claims a game that is your game, you know you have scum. You don't even have to reveal your role, just say your game. A safer CC if you will.

If you do the former (claim asap) you apparently run the risk of getting pushed or Vig'd. If you do the latter and you get scanned, there's almost no way to prevent the mislynch.

Waiting until lylo falls into the second camp (don't claim). As I've stated, I inadvertently removed that choice when I asked about how to proceed with my negative utility role.

You're missing the point that I'm now an investigative PR magnet and will likely have someone other than a cop target me. But anyway, that will sort itself in time.

I'm not saying that Mafia doesn't. The point of the question was to ask why making those OMGUS votes is more likely to have come from mafia.

I see. In that case:
My reason for voting Charles was primarily my first point. Regarding OMGUS votes, scum can use them to place a vote without having to stand by reasoning. It also looks like he's hiding behind the OMGUS reasoning to get a vote to stick. I'd give him a pass on it if it was RVS, but he said he doesn't participate in RVS.

If he's town, he's not helping us further the discussion with weak votes.

Based on the impression I had of him from seeing him in the Site Chat before he inned for this game, his behavior seems NAI to me. I guess you do have a point about it being odd that he said he doesn't do RVS, but then engaged in RVS behavior. I'd like to hear from him about that.

I've read Espresso's first Newbie game before, and I think his play so far is congruent with I remember of that. That could just be his general personality. I'll take a look at that game to refresh my memory. I'd like to hear what you find scummy about him.

Forgive me if I'm the noob of the group, but what is this popcorning you guys speak of? 1 at a time game number claim to allow for CC or something like that?

So far espresso's play does concern me a bit. Mainly paranoia over the Miller claim (although I understand why a true Miller may want to take that approach) but it also concerns me a bit that they are suggesting a mass numberclaim already.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I may be out of my league here in terms of experience (this is only my 2nd or 3rd theme game, and the concept of this one it is totally new to me) but I don't really see the advantage of numberclaiming this early. Isn't that something we should hold off on for day one until, say, someone is at L-1? If I understand this correctly, the purpose of a numberclaim is to eliminate certain fakeclaim options for scum, no? But I also see it as a tool scum can use to compare someone's play with potential roles from their gamenumber, which could hurt us with NKs.

I'm surely not considering all aspects of this concept, but on Day 1, so far I personally feel like we don't need to be massclaiming anything.
