I'm flattered.
That said, my worry is that because Andrius was only unofficially my co-Mod due to experience levels, he won't be considered eligible. But he co-created the setup, he often provided votecounts when I was busy or otherwise couldn't do it, wrote the first drafts of a lot of the flavor (and came up with he actual approach to the flavor), helped coordinate opening and closing of the quicktopics, and (most importantly, I think) co-created the setup, including writing first drafts of many of the Role PMs, so any appreciation of this game, official or not, is owed at least as much to him as to me. Just getting that out there before any future discussion of how this nomination should be handled.-

No gollum love?
I agree. I loved reading it. Only caveat is I wish Andy didn't tell them so much.gandalf5166 wrote:Actually, there should be an award for best Dead QT.Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. I'm not worried for the nomination itself; honestly I'm a bit perturbed at the idea that I might get recognized without you. You contributions were too significant to reduce to 'just helping out' (and I don't only mean ringleadering the Dead quicktopic either ) . . . hell, it was basically your idea to make and run such a setup in the first place. So yeah.Andrius wrote:

I'm fine with that though. It'll be enough for me to say I helped design and facilitate the game (and awesome-as-always Dead QT).Plum wrote:I'm not worried for the nomination itself; honestly I'm a bit perturbed at the idea that I might get recognized without you. I know that Andrius was quite a presence, so no matter how the nomination works technically, I'm sure we'll all remember it when we see his name in the future. Maybe he can get an asterisk or something.-

Hmmm.... should weNero Cain wrote:No gollum love?nominate Nero Cain for best Third-Party performance?... yeah, why not?
Whether hewinsor not will be another story, but that performance at least deserves a nomination, if nothing else.Show"Take me to Pleasure Town!" "Look, the most Glorious Rainbow Ever!" "Do me on it!" -

I was definitely aiming for scum, I just missed twice. I figured town was my best shot at winning.Plum wrote:I've been debating this one myself. On a side note, I thought it was REALLY weird to have the One Ring be a player. Whose idea was that??Show"Take me to Pleasure Town!" "Look, the most Glorious Rainbow Ever!" "Do me on it!" -

The way I see it: Nominate all "otherwise" deserving performances, and let the best man (or woman, or "it", as the case may be) win!Show"Take me to Pleasure Town!" "Look, the most Glorious Rainbow Ever!" "Do me on it!" -

I'd have to rummage through both the Design QT and the Mod QTs to say for sure, but I'm pretty sure it just carried over from the Silmaril in Lay of Leithian. I'm surprised no one guessed its involvement sooner.ReaperCharlie wrote:On a side note, I thought it was REALLY weird to have the One Ring be a player. Whose idea was that??
The notion of The One Ring being both a player and an item was always part of the game; I brought it up at the very begininng of the Design QT, so we probably created it in the PM phase of designing the game, or from the Greek Mythos Scum QT.
edit: So it seems like, from the context of my Sent PMs, it was Plum's idea to have The One Ring as a player."This is the true face of a man who plays paladin."-

Mine. I remember it distinctly. Anyway, the Silmaril in Lay of Leithian was really a bit of mindscrew (honestly in the books the things were more magnetic/cognizant than sentient). The Ring, I thought, was clearly sentient, malevolent, parasitic, and an outgrowth of Sauron. The Ring was definitely a character in most of the important senses of the word. And it was just damn cool.ReaperCharlie wrote:On a side note, I thought it was REALLY weird to have the One Ring be a player. Whose idea was that??
Immediately when Andrius talked to me about his vague ideas for a Lord of the Rings setup and we made a staring list of characters I was like 'Okay, but the Ring has to be a character; it's so obvious and so right'.-

Yeah, I totally agree that that thing has a mind of its own, but... an item AND a player?
