Lynch All Lurkers Mafia! GAME OVER

In the town of Pilcrow, there is an old saying: "it's always the quiet ones you have to look out for." Now that the deadly Silent Assassins have infiltrated the town, that is doubly true. They are masters of stealth and secrecy; let one of them out of your sight for too long, lose track of one of them even for a little while, and someone is liable to end up dead. So, the only option is to keep everyone here, together in the town center, while you figure out who to lynch. Don't take too long thinking, though. And whatever you do, make sure you don't lose track of anyone, make sure no one sneaks off and vanishes for a while. If someone does vanish, you may have only one option. You may have to

STANDARD GAME RULES:


1. The game will start with day.

2. During Day, you may vote for the player you want to lynch. Votes should be bolded and in the form
Vote: Player
or they may not be counted. It is helpful, but not strictly necessary, to "Unvote" when switching your vote to a different player.

3. "Twilight" posts (posts made after the lynching vote was cast, but before the death scene is posted) are allowed.

4. Do not talk about this game outside the thread unless your role allows it. The only exceptions are: ranting about the game to someone not in any way involved with it is permissable (however, getting advice is not), and any publicly known information about this game can be mentioned in other contexts.
This is a modkillable offense.


5. If you're dead, you're dead. Do not talk AT ALL until the game is over, not even a bah post.

6. If you have any questions, complaints, or comments, PM the Moderator, especally if you are unsure about any of the rules or about your role.

7. Do not quote any PM's from the mod. Don't try to get around this rule by hinting at how many words were in the mod's PM to you, or what the first word of it was, or that the mod misspelled the fourth word in your PM, or by finding any other way to reveal the exact phrasing of the PM the mod sent you.

8. If for some reason you have editing powers, do not edit any of your posts in thread for any reason.

9. Nights will last 48 hours from the moment a mod ends the day and locks the thread. Get any night choices you have in before that deadline, or they will not take place.

10. This is a game. Have fun.

SPECIAL GAME RULES


1. Every time a scumbag manages to lurk for 72 hours and then survives the rest of the day without being lynched, it will earn points towards making extra nightkills. Each scum will earn 2 points for the first 72 hours it lurks through in a day; each additional 72 hours will be worth 1 point. A scumbag may accumulate at most 5 lurker points per day. Each scum's points are separate, but up to 1 point can be transferred to a partner per night.

A scumbag can spend 2 points to use a bonus nightkill.

2. Note that these points can be saved, can be accumulated over multiple days, and that there is no limit on how many kills a scum can make at once. However, if a scum dies, all his lurker points will be lost.

3. There will be absolutly no replacements for inactivity, for any reason. Someone may be lurking, or quiet, or flaking, or their computer may have broken, or they may have fallen off the face of the earth, or been eaten by sea monsters. We don't care, it's not our problem. The only time someone will be replaced is if they request it in thread. (A request in thread for replacement will "stop the clock" on the 72 hour lurker point rule mentioned above.)

4. If someone has been away from the thread for more then 72 hours, and a prod is requested by someone in the game, one will be sent.

5. By default, each day has a maximum of 3 weeks. During this period, the town may lynch up to 2 people if they wish; if a majority to lynch someone is reached, a death scene will be posted, the votecount will be reset, and the town may lynch a second person before deadline. No majority at deadline=no lynch. A vote of no lynch will end the day. If the day ends before 3 weeks, you will receive [3 weeks - time spent] bonus time on the next day, capped at one week.

If there are vanilla townies in the game, the vanilla townie role will look like this:

. You have no power other then posting (frequently) and voting (in order to lynch lurkers). You win when all of the scum are dead, and there is at least one pro-town player still alive.

With the start of the new day, a typical, beautiful sunrise greets the day, sun glinting off the hot desert that surrounds your small, isolated town; a stunningly beautiful sight that none of you care about today. The whole town seems to already be nervously standing around in the town center. You look around nervously; is everyone here? Is anyone trying to hide from you? People keep moving around, coming and going...you're not really sure.

With 18 alive, it is 10 votes to lynch.

Day 1 will last until May 7th, at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard time, or until town lynches two people.

Beyond that, do any object to policy lynching anyone who lurks for 72 hours without giving us lots of warning?

Also, Troll has a curriculum planning retreat on the 23rd and 24th so Troll will be V/LA and might not get posts in those two days. Troll will bring this up again as them get closer.

I think anyone who lurks for 72 hours should be lynched, no questions asked.

I think we should start raising hell / casting votes if someone's even gone for 48 hours.

We need to try and brainstorm any possible scum tactics for sneaking in a 72 hour absence. I would think that, if we can completely stop the scum from earning nightkill points that way, the advantage will be on our side.

Troll, if we lynch scum that lurk for 72 hours, yeah, we catch scum, which is good, but they have earned points, which I assume the other teammates can still use.

So, not only should we lynch someone that lurks beyond 72 hours, but we should probably lynch anyone that lurks past 48 hours. I want them dead before earning points.

If you're going to be absent for 48 hours, I propose we have a wagon waiting to lynch you if you don't post before 72 hours.

Agreed (I don't know if "you" was specifically referring to Zorblag here, since he talked about being away, but I endorse the above treatment of any player)

We also need to be wary of a scum trying to lurk when another player (maybe scum, but maybe not) has been lurking and getting all the attention. We need to be focused on all players at all times.

Keep in mind that this may be impossible, as we have but two lynches a day.

So I certainly hope all townies will post early and often and continuously, all game long, so the scum don't get an opportunity to fall of the radar or avoid a lynch because we don't have enough.

i suspect that this game is balanced much like a normal double day mafia game, rather than trying to be balanced in any way towards assuming scum will ever get away with lurking 72 hours.

if they do, the town deserved the punishment of an extra scum kill.

play like its a regular game, ignoring the extra scumkill mechanic, unless someone doesn't post for 72 hours. at that point, lynch the offender with impunity.
