vonflare has been banned via petition ban from discussion forums and the official Discord server for a minimum of 1 month after continuing a pattern of unconstructive and spam-like posts in serious threads, including ones that interrupt, dismiss, distract, and downplay important discussion, particularly discussion related to trans people. This petition ban comes after multiple warnings and directives, both public and private, from multiple mods over the course of the past few months on his conduct, including a "final warning" PM sent this past Monday. It also follows a two week ban for a specific abusive post.

Keeping in mind this is a ban largely about the entire body of posting and many of these posts were subsequently removed and cannot be quoted from context, a small sample of the sort of posts he was warned to refrain from and continued to make are here, here, and here.



Since previous action has not achieved its objective to curtail this pattern of behavior, this ban will only be lifted following a request by vonflare, and with due consideration by Discussion Moderators about how vonflare can more healthily engage with our community.

Using a word that is specifically offensive to a group of people as an insult and equating it to a derogatory statement is not acceptable. Trying to toe-the-line and see how close you can get without crossing it is equally unacceptable. Behavior that creates a hostile environment for other players based on characteristics such as race, sexual orientation, gender, or disability is unacceptabe.

1. These posts (especially the former), which are derogatory toward multiple groups.
   
2. This post, which indicates intent to continue breaking site rules around phasing out the l-word. This disregard for site rules is cause for a petition ban, as it demonstrates that simply banning for a set period of time gives no indication that his behavior will change upon return.
   
3. This post, which clearly attempts to sidestep the rules in order to reference an offensive meme.

I want to make sure that Gamma understands that users have an obligation to report if they come across information that other users couldn't reasonably acquire rather than use that information to potentially gain an advantage in game.

Players have a duty to report to game moderators and/or list moderators when they have acquired information that other players could not reasonably have acquired, even if this information came from a game moderator or other player's mistake.
