MafiaMUD
Another one of Candice's hair-brained, egomanical dreams, I've always wanted to program a MUD. I've found a nice tool to do that, and I'm learning the coding. The only things I have to do are determine a theme and find someplace to host it.
I'd really like to do a Mafia-themed MUD, but I'm not sure how that'd work- it would probably be better as a MUSH, but the tool that I'm using doesn't do well for MUSH's. Anyone have any ideas they'd be willing to throw at me? Even, "That's retarded!"?"Don't let go; never give up, it's such a wonderful life..."-

I remember MUDs and MUSHs and all those things...I never really got into them. But it sounds interesting. Not too sure how you'd do it, but I'd definately like to see it.-

Multi-User Dungeon and Multi-User Shared Hallucination, respectively.
And I just got my idea. Considering that I'm new to MUD coding, perhaps diving right in and attempting a world wouldn't be a good idea, right? So here's an idea:
The MUD functions as a plain old chat room until 12 people type /in (/out will also be an option). At that point, the "bot" will randomly distribute roles and "whisper" them to you, and keep track of them. Groups who have a night choice are given 5 minutes to whisper their choice back to the bot, and then game play starts, and continues until a majority /votes a person (/unvote is an option). The bot will track all votes and unvotes and upon a lynch, will reveal that person's role and alignment and the process starts over again.
Modless live mafia!
What do you all think?"Don't let go; never give up, it's such a wonderful life..."-

I still have to find a host for it, Cam. And do the coding, which will take me a while as I'm a raw beginner. All you can do in it at the moment is chat. I DO know that you'd be able to connect through telnet, so there's a plus there.
I'll keep people updated on it's progress, if you like?"Don't let go; never give up, it's such a wonderful life..."-

That's cool.
Could I get a hold of this tool? I love programming and this is one are i've allways wanted to explore. I made a few simple text based on adventures on C, but I've allways wanted to try this out. Maybe i'll make a Suikoden based one There sure is enough world to explore between the 3 games(and then the 4th!)
Also, I'd love to help you with your mafia project when/if you need and want it.Tacitus velut nox. Vigilans velut umbra.-
