Condensed Rules

1.)
Be civil.
2.)
No talking outside the game about this game, unless your role PM allows otherwise.
3.)
No editing or deleting your own posts or another's posts.
4.)
No mod-quoting. Only paraphrase in your own words. You may quote from the sample role PMs. As a corollary, do not impersonate the Mod.
5.)
Nights will last at least 48 hours, and at most 72 hours. Days will last at most two weeks, unless exigent circumstances compel me to grant an extension.
6.)
A lynch (or a No Lynch) takes a majority of votes. In the event of a deadline, a majority of a majority will do. (In other words, if 7 players are alive, it takes 4 votes to lynch, but only 3 votes with a deadline). If there is a tie, first come, first served.
7.)
To vote, post a bolded
Vote: PJ
. To unvote, post a bolded
Unvote: PJ
. If you are switching votes, an unvote is not necessary, but appreciated.
8.)
If you have a request, please use a bolded
Mod: So-and-So.

9.)
If you're dead, do not post.
10.)
If you notice there has been a lynch, stop posting.
11.)
Do not use small text, invisible text, spoiler text, etc. All players should be able to read everything you say. As a corollary, do not constantly use CAPS LOCK, large text, colored text, etc. All players should be able to read everything you say without getting a headache.
12.)
I reserve the right to change or add to all game rules.

Special Rules

1.)
The Hypnotists are guaranteed to be the only scum in the game (as indicated by the Townie Role PM).
2.)
The Hypnotists
may
be able to hypnotize a player to do something other than kill.
3.)
If a hypnotized player is a power role who took an action on the night they are hypnotized,
they will still perform their action
.
4.)
The Hypnotists
may
be able to hypnotize a player to do two things on the same night. If this occurs, the hypnotized player will only fulfill the second task if "triggered" during the subsequent Day. If a "trigger" occurs, the hypnotized player must be quoted by the player who hypnotized him or her, while
exactly
saying a phrase of at least three words under the quoted post.

For example, suppose I were hypnotized (note: this is not possible) to do two things on the same Night. The trigger phrase is "I like trying." If the Hypnotist who hypnotized me quoted me, while saying "I really don't like this mechanic, PJ is trying too hard," that would
fail
to trigger my second action.

Sample Role PMs

Sadly, you do not actually have any powers that will help you in the fight against the Hypnotists, so the best you can do is vote.

You win when all the Hypnotists are dead, and at least one member of the Town is still alive.

Confirm by PM. Good luck, and have fun!
PJ
Hypnotist Goon wrote:[Removed]

Each night, you may talk with your partners. You may collectively choose a single Hypnotist to hypnotize a single player who is not a part of your group. You will direct that player to kill a player
other than himself or herself
(unless you happen to target a particularly weak-willed individual).

Players are usually not told when they are hypnotized, though there may be exceptions. The same player cannot be successfully hypnotized twice over the course of the game, so plan accordingly.

You win when everybody in the Town is dead, or nothing can prevent the same.

Confirm by PM. Good luck, and have fun!

Roles have been randomized and distributed. Confirm your role by PM.

It is currently
Night Zero
. All players with actions may submit an action. Night will last a minimum of 48 hours, and a maximum 72 hours.

Prologue: The Magician’s Convention

A man in a black top hat takes the stage to the sound of polite applause. He pulls out his magic wand with a white tip as two assistants cart out a large refrigerator-sized box, which is standing upright. As the assistants slowly turn the box in a complete circle to let the audience see most of the angles (the sides each have one small hole), the magician performs a few of his more simple tricks. His wand turns into a dove, he pretends to eat the dove, then he pulls multicolored handkerchiefs from his mouth, which then turn back into the dove which he lets it fly into the air when it suddenly turns back into a wand and falls back into his hands.

When this is through, he takes the hands of one of his assistants and walks her into the box, which she has to duck to fit in. She waves to the audience as the magician closes the door. Her head then pops out of the top of the box with a smile, and her hands pop from the sides. The magician then opens a tiny door at the very bottom of the box, which opens just enough to show the assistant’s wiggling feet.

The magician walks to a table that has been wheeled out and takes two metal sheets, waves them around, and dramatically slides them into the box like knives, cutting it into thirds. The assistant-in-the-box grunts as if she might have been cut into sections, but her hands and feet are still moving.

The magician then takes a third sheet and inserts it where the assistant’s neck would be, near the top of the box. The assistant jokingly tilts her head and sticks out her tongue, the audience applauds, and then the magician picks up the third sheet and carries the assistant’s head – which is still moving, and now looking very confused – to a table. The assistant now looks humorously cross, and one of her hands makes a fist which is then shaken at the magician.

The magician returns to the box, and he takes the fist and caresses it reassuringly. During the caress, the central portion of the box starts rotating. The audience laughs as the hands flail wildly, and one of the feet stomps on the ground and taps impatiently.

Suddenly, the magician’s eyes glaze over, and a pistol appears in his hand as if from nowhere. In the next instant, he has shot himself in the head, and he crumples to the floor. The first assistant, with her head on a platter, screams. The second assistant drops to her knees and turns the dead man’s head this way and that way. Then she looks up, and with a terrified voice, announces:

“There are Hypnotists in the building.”

The looong days are offset by the reassurance that I can go to sleep at night and not worry about having been lynched by teh classix at deadline.

...though this game has a 30% threshold at deadline which I really would like to avoid.

c'mon, give me a little credit lol.

anyways... I'm still a bit fresh to the site. Only know a handful of people this game.

animorph
Fate
GhostWriter
MPR
Seraphim
vezok

I think that's about it... everyone else, I don't think I've had the pleasure. animorph is the only player on the list I've played with twice I think.

I'm assuming the Martyr role allows MoI to block the NK for that night, sort of like a Bodyguard shot that always work. So, no real information can be gleaned from N0, at least not from the night kill.

Vote: vezokpiraka

heh I didn't even read that.

So with night start he basically got a role that was "does not get to play this game, bye."

Hmm... I just read Martyr Magician as the first guy to die since we started at night. If Martyr is a role, I've never heard of it. You make it sound like it's kind of a Lightning Rod for night kills or something.

I doubt that a person with a role like that would "choose" to use his ability on Night 0. So it might be worth thinking upon who would kill Magna.
