Are there often enough people to play either of those? I need to try sometime when I have the time (and experience, courage, etc heh).

Dunno about scumchat, but in #mafia there's usually enough people to play most of the time, although there are periods of downtime typically while it's night\early morning in the US of A.

As a heads up though; mafia with XylBot is a bit different from on the forums, the biggest differences being often unreliable roles (and crazy setups) and no RVS, as most XylBot games start in mylo or lylo.

Bolded: True. Also note that there are setups which are not really quite mafia (such as momir duel, the shoot out versions that I don't remember the name of, and raf) but are still reasonably enjoyable.

Underlined: Untrue. Large number games tend to not be in lylo.

It's fairly uncommon to see games with more than 7 people, you don't get games with a free lynch (barring a scum death n0) until you have at least 8 and typically you're not 'safe' until 10 because XylBot loves it's third parties.

So my statement stands,
most
(not all) XylBot games are at mylo or lylo on the first day.

Me! wrote:
Lylo: Means lynch or lose. During lylo if the town doesn't lynch a mafia member, then they have automatically lost. Typical lylo situations are 2 townies and 1 scum or 3 townies and 2 scum. If the number of mafia is equal to the number of town at any time, then the mafia have won.

------

Mylo: Mislynch and lose: This is actually a more difficult one to explain. Mylo is where the only thing the town can do safely is to no lynch. You should only ever lynch in a mylo situation when a cop has gotten a guilty on another player. Examples of mylo situations are when there are 3 town and 1 mafia or 6 town and 2 mafia. If the town mislynches during mylo then it is an automatic mafia victory, UNLESS the town get lucky and the have a doc in the game that targets the same person the mafia want to.

why would 6 town 2 mafia be? mislynch, 5-2, after next night, 4-2. you still have 4 people that can vote for mafia. why would this be automatic mafia win? oh wait... lynch mafia, 4-1. after night 3-1, then lynch mafia. i dont see how its automatic mafia win if you mislynch at 6 town and 2 mafia...

but i do understand, thank you for clarifications :) i guess i was confused cause neruz talked about xylbot starting in lylo or mylo, i'm assuming thats for extremely small games? or just weird setups? with like 6 town and 5 mafia

Haylen made an error, 6:3 is mylo, 4:2 is mylo, she got the two mixed up :P
Alternately, 6 players, 2 of which are scum, is mylo.

All 'standard' Xylbot setups are night first (except in 3p) and it scales the number of scum to the number of players, you have 1 scum with up to 5 players, 2 scum with up to 11 and 3 scum appear at 12.

However
Xylbot loves it's third parties and will often throw in survivors, at 7p and up a mafia group and an SK is not uncommon, and once you get past 10p you'll often see multiple mafia groups, or three SK's or so on. Typically the only player numbers that don't have first day at lylo or mylo are 9p and anything above 12p. As most games are typically around 5 - 7 most games don't have free lynches unless something prevents the scum kill.

Of course, Xylbot has a lot of crazy roles and inane setups, so that does not always hold true.

A Xylbot setup that totally happens from time to time:
1 Townie
1 Survivor
1 Mafia Goon

The trick there is to claim goon and have the survivor be the hammer.

This is why you don't play 3p,

Most survivors will just hammer you if you do this.

As for mylo vs. lylo, to give a "simpler" definition, if there are n scum left, lylo happens with 2n+1 players left and mylo with 2n+2.

So this is who you are!

If you haven't already you should join a newbie or two to get rid of the rust and get back into the hang of things before you wander off again.

I think I'm overdue for a post here.
You can call me Zeph or Z if you want to shorten my name...

FUN FACT:
I'm V/LA on weekends until the WGI season is over because I do indoor percussion with Dark Sky Percussion.
You should look into WGI and DCI. It's really cool music-related stuff.
