Klaz, they just need to add the "VoxelMap.zip" to their /mods folder.

if I hear anything from certain individuals about server downtime I'll gladly show those individuals the 4-hour-long dynmap deletion that is currently ongoing. we're either moving to a lowres version of dynmap or we're removing it, because this is a HUGE waste of memory and time on something people barely even use. and all most people do when they do use it is gripe about the lack of a dynmap/IRC bridge which isn't really a priority ATM and probably never will be

Klaz and I are REALLY tempted to remove dynmap - if anybody has sever separation anxiety or has thoughts they should share them

that's exactly what I clicked yes to - I said that no matter what we're deleting all dynmap renders and switching to lowres, but I didn't realize it would take a full 20 hours to delete them all. I mean, I know that at some point while I was sleeping my connection got cut or something, but this has still been going for at least 10 hours now and I actually don't see any significant progress...

yeah, as Tierce said - we're running the lastest snapshot now so that we can keep Vanilla bleeding edge while all this Redstone shit is sorted out. a lot of Mods and plugins may break with 1.6 too, so we may eventually have Bukkit on there again, but not for the foreseeable future

Just spitballing a couple of ideas...

If I click on my dynmap shortcut I go to a page that loads a black screen. When the dynmap has been down in the past, I'd get a straight "Page not found" error - is it possible its having trouble deleting stuff because something is still running?

If it stopped making progress, would it be worth cancelling and restarting? everything it already deleted
should
still be deleted right? I know if I do a move operation and cancel half way through, whatever was already moved stayed moved. Same with a copy - if I cancel half way through, whatever was copied was copied. Delete should work the same right? Maybe that would get it going again if it hung up when you lost your connection?
Nothing's running - I'm backing up/gutting/deleting shit from FTBBot as we speak
and I actually get the "page not found" error you speak of... :P

at this moment it's still going and I still see no noticeable difference in size...but then again my FTP client can't look at directory sizes so I'm just shooting in the dark based on the number of semi-systematically named dynmap file directories I see *sigh*

also Maru the indirect attack was made with love and not just at you, I've been snippy to a lot of people because of RL frustrations recently and I'd actually like to apologize for that right now

I think you, Blake, davroe, Rhino, and even Klaz all got snapped/raged/yelled at over the past week or so, ILU guys and I'm sorry :(

Its really simple, if you follow the guides on how to edit it's config. If you'd like assistance, etc...
uh, this isn't really an answer to what I was saying here...? is this a misquote?

I already have it set to lowres now, I knew how to we just should've done it from the get go (WHYTHEFUCKDOESITDEFAULTTOHIRESUUUUUGH)

the current FOLDER it's working through is 5 GB
and there're about 1000 folders? I dunno, one for every chunk, I'd say
it's taking about 10-15 mins per folder, the files are small it's just the NUMBER of files is overwhelming, each 1/4 cubic chunk must be a separate image or something...

In post 14351, Rhinox wrote:I'm kinda interested in a boiler/steam engine setup, because as I understand they can be setup fully automated and maintenance free, just set and forget. But they require a lot of resources to setup.
lolnotquite

Steam Boilers and Steam Engines (I'm assuming you mean the Railcraft versions, since the Thermal Expansion versions are exactly like Stirling Engines but 2 MJ/t) are EXTREMELY maintenance heavy unless you have some serious automation going on. And by that I mean "the kind of automation that is near-impossible without RP2 Pneumatic Tubes for insertion and extraction".

Steam Boilers require a substantial amount of Steel to even get crafted, and from then on it's just downhill.

When starting up, before reaching peak temperature and operating efficiency, a Steam Boiler (Low Pressure or High Pressure, it matters not) consumes about 9x the Coal/Coke it would when operating at peak temperature and operating efficiency. (I have no idea what the numbers look like on this, but it's something like a piece of Coal Coke every 15 seconds for 3-5 minutes or something ridiculous.) After that, yes, they produce a CONSIDERABLE amount of Steam to power Railcraft Steam Engines (or to input into some of the new Power Converters gadgetry we have) but they still require a sizable amount of fuel and, if left unattended without fuel for even a short amount of time, they will cool down and lose that peak temperature and operating efficiency - requiring the insane amount of fuel for a full restart.

AND in the meantime, better make sure it's hydrated from the get-go and NEVER loses water supply, because if it does the explosion that results has been compared to a mini-Nuclear Reactor going off in your base. Arguably, this is a negligible concern, but it's still something to think about.

Finally, to get much of ANYTHING out of your Boiler without Power Converters stuff directly sucking up the Steam, you'd need some Commercial or Industrial Steam Engines - another Steel-sucking item to look into. Better have a couple of Blast Furnaces handy because that is gonna take AWHILE (and a fuckton of Coal Coke). <3

I'd honestly suggest Factorization Mirror setups + Power Converters turning it into MJ/t. Uses up all that Silver and Lead you've probably got lying around, and it's the ONLY maintenance-free power available for MJ/t out there at the moment. (No, people: Lava doesn't count. I've had to move my pump 3 times already and it's a goddamn pain.)

Minefactory Reloaded's Harvester should work fine, but is more difficult to get set up and working IMHO - but only because I find Turtles and MultiFarms are easy in general (Turtles maybe not-so-much)

most infiniPower methods have been prevented by Mod authors using MATH and such but you can give that Lava/Steam thing a go...not sure it'll work out as you intend, but I'd definitely recommend Turtles or MultiFarms powering the Charcoal for a Solid-Fueled Firebox

also PSSST you'd need a Liquid-Fueled Firebox for Lava, js

you're missing how important this is to some people - also the optimal Solar Turbine setup I tested on our server recently definitely got me more than 56 CZ/t and definitely netted more than 11 MJ/t - psure Blake can corroborate that

also the Solar Boiler and Factorization Steam Turbine collectively replaced the Solar Turbine so the data may've also changed with that but I don't know

@Maru's #14372: nope

it fills up pipes, pipes fill up tanks, tanks fill up Engines, Engines fill up RSECells and everything shuts down - rinse and repeat

we just use a lot of power for ME, which is why I built two cozy Factorization Solar Boiler setups on top of two of our towers
they should work fine until I get the ME Storage mostly external

In post 14325, Klazam wrote:Ok. Heres how to get the pack (1.1.1) working.

Open FTB launcher- Open options, look at the path to the MafiaCraft file it specifies download into. Use that information to find mafiacraft. Open it , go to mine craft, find the CONFIG folder. delete it.

Then download this link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/osdxo ... config.zip , the download for an updated config folder that MUST be used when attempting to connect to the new v1.1.1 server.

Unzip it, and put it in your minecraft folder.

Then you're all good to play.

This config folder will be included in the v1.1.2 fix going out this week. After this week's fix, NO NEW MODS WILL BE ADDED AND NO UPDATES TO THE PACK WILL OCCUR FOR A SOLID MONTH. Period.
-----------------
The Admins are already working on a v1.1.2 patch to the following issue (which occurred even AFTER extensive testing), but to preempt further FTBlessness and to help you guys get on server faster, we're providing the following fix(es): Traincraft has been deleted. MANY Block ID's were changed as of the last update to several Mods, including Traincraft, and because of the way its worldgen works with ExtraBiomes XL, and because of several changes to default config settings assigned by Forge, the alternative to eliminating Traincraft from the server was either a perfect world restarted from scratch, or a permanently fucked up world (including but not limited to, no more Traincraft Petroleum or Copper - except in Red Rock biomes where it replaces every single visible block except Stone, and the loss of every single Ropes+ Rope currently in the world). Don't worry - it'll stay in the pack though. For those of you who love Traincraft, feel free to use the provided default config file, you just won't see it on-server ever again.

This has been a message from your loving admin team.

"pockets of negative space underground spawning Monsters" vs. "permanently bugged and exponentially fucky world"

thought I explained why we got rid of Traincraft and why it is 100% viable as an alternative to any other possible solution, but cool

To connect to the Vanilla Server, download the New Minecraft Launcher.

Once you have the Launcher, double check that your version (in the upper right hand corner) matches the Server version.

The current Server version is Minecraft 1.6.1

The Server IP address comes in two forms:

given the short discussion you had on IRC that none of the Admins were present for, I would first argue that we're not HERE to cater to the people who play on the server but are not a part of this forum, but more importantly we've also made it public knowledge that we (Klaz and I at least, won't speak for izak) are Minecrat-ed out recently and I at least wanted to wait on this specific fix until:

a) any and all other possible problems was realized - just so we could fix them at the same time, or
b) any new Mods were suggested/updated - just so we could add them at the same time, or
c) 2 or 3 weeks had gone by

that answer your question?

uuuuuh. two updates hadn't gone by...two WEEKS went by. we can't and won't be changing ANYTHING for weeks after this so I'm not sure what the huge deal is but neither me nor Klaz made this into a big thing or took a hostile attitude towards you. quite honestly, you're right, we should be getting on it soon

since it's just a quick update, if Klaz is on tonight maybe I can catch him and we can push it out for tomorrow - calm down plz Maru :giggle:

Oh, I'm sure it would probably work fine in the Modpack. But I don't think everyone understands that for a world to be as stable as possible, the MODS in the Modpack must also be stable. As in, unchanging. As in, the more we update to new versions of Mods/new versions of MC the less stable the world WILL be. It's really not a question of compatibility in most cases - all Mods break eventually. Whether it comes with the Horse Update or whether it was a big deal with the Redstone Update (e.g. RP2, WR-CBE) or whether it comes in the next couple of weeks or months, the server WILL need to restart if you all want to keep using the newest version of all the Mods we have.

I'm saying this again because I think it may not've been clear, especially when people keep asking for updates and changes when they supposedly want a "stable world".

in the meantime, I borked my Java - thanks Apple!

I can't run Java Apps in Java 6 anymore, and yes I've tried all known methods on the internet of re-enabling the applet directly, they aren't working
my godsend is that MultiMC clearly doesn't give two fucks and runs on whichever JVM it damn well pleases...not that I know how

the same cannot be said for the FTB packs or Vanilla, so I might not be able to get on either of those for awhile :'(

If people want different Mods in the pack - which they've been saying they do - you should have a new world. If you don't want a new world, don't change the pack. It's that simple.

Ultimate as-is, or with some subset of mods deactivated?
I'd say as-is, though I'd be happy to config Gregtech for you to make it more reasonable, since I'm the one with the most experience of it.
I can give a few good reasons why I 100% won't play if this happens, and why this is a bad idea if your goal is to make the world MORE stable, rather than less so:
  • 1.5.2
  • Mystcraft
  • Thaumcraft
  • MFFS, SoulShards, RedPower, XyCraft, ...
1) If we're not updated to 1.5.2 (which Ultimate is not, last time I checked) people will lose interest quickly, having seen the new features available in 80% of the Mods, and not having access to them. This would also mean that you'd probably eventually need to make the world 1.5.2 at some point, or stick with these old features. A jump between major Minecraft versions can and will fuck up the world worse than anything else that's ever been done - if you don't start on 1.5.2 and you eventually want to go 1.6?! That will NOT be a stable world at all.

2) We've all experienced the problems with Mystcraft and Thaumcraft. Unless you ban all Mystcraft Age creation (in which case I seriously smh at even including the Mod at all) you're always going to have persisting world issues with Mystcraft. Even if Thaumcraft gets fixed, because of my point above you guys won't HAVE the fixes on the server because you won't be updated to the newest version.

3) Several of these Mods (and there're probably more I'm not thinking of right now) have had complete rewrites or have changed drastically since FTB Ultimate. Not only this, but Ultimate doesn't have EVERYTHING. Several of the Mods people have been 'asking for' recently, or that people on the server have grown to love, aren't even INCLUDED in FTB Ultimate. Here's a short list; I'm looking at the Modlist for Ultimate right now:
  • Tinker's Construct (I know, I'm surprised too)
  • Natura (It's pretty nice WITHOUT any EXBL or BoP, I admitted to Klaz last night on KMP)
  • ExtraTrees (Good luck finding a 1.4.7 version in existence, let alone in the pack)
  • DamageIndicators
I thought there would be more, tbqh, but even losing those 4 kinda pisses me off, especially when you factor in that 90% of the rest of the Mods will be missing huge chunks of features that're only in 1.5.2 versions. I'd HIGHLY recommend NOT going with FTB Ultimate or anything that's not MC v1.5.2.

P-Edit: My recommendation to Rhino for pack submission to FTB would be to disregard any previous threads of conversation between me/Klaz/izak and the Private Server Modpack Team over at FTB. I suggest that Rhinox simply read this page and ask any questions he may have - the submission process is simple once you understand it. I'll also point him here, where he should be getting most of the permissions for most of the Mods in existence. :P

Well, dav, the problem with the trick is that if Block or Item ID's change between MafiaCraft 1.x and 2.x (which they might unless you have the exact same Mods) you'd have the Blocks and Items changing semi-sporadically. I mean, with KMP Ultimate most of the stuff stayed the same, we just added on to the Block and Item ID's from KMP Engineer with the stuff we needed from KMP Explorer, but the Certus Quartz turned into Hidden Wooden Doors and I had some random saplings in there we definitely didn't have in KMP Engineer.

The other problem is there's no way to actively discern which stuff gets copied over if this is done. I mean, it might be an acceptable loss, but if you try that trick you're more than likely to get the content of EVERY Ender Chest copied over - you can't just pick and choose. Plus there's the fact that some people might feel cheated if their stuff is the stuff that gets royally fucked by ID changes, but I'm assuming somewhere near 2/3 of the items were fine when we did it.

Maybe the same would work for MafiaCraft, I dunno.

I'd be willing to explain how to do this Ender Chest trick or help do it myself when the switch happens, Rhinox, but basically I found where EnderStorage saves it's Chest Data, and since the data isn't linked to a world location (because Ender) it can technically be copied directly from one server-side world to the next. (Note: I did say server. This trick doesn't work in SSP.) It's pretty simple to do, but as I said since ID's may change within versions (they should if you're adding Mods and don't want the world to potentially be wonky) it'll probably be touch-and-go as a solution.

dappy, is it just north of the Swamp on the southern tip of Spawn Island? If so, that was me during the huge Traincraft debacle.
Kinda says something about the "exploratory attitude" of the active players if nobody's found it till now.

and by "cool idea", I mean we basically made angry posts at one another and then realized we were both arguing about stupid shit
from the same side of an argument and decided on a totalitarian, reformist way to solve all the problems in the
world
thread

Let's all go back to Vanilla!
and by that we mean Rhinox and I have seen the light and don't really think Mods have been a positive thing for this community
and are not going to be updating MafiaCraft anymore and will not ask Maruchan to re-pay for it next payment cycle

We can still have KMP, if you guys want we'll help you get on it and stuff.
Or we can see how many people want us to host a regular FTB pack from the Launcher. (it'd probably be 1.4.7)

but basically, all small text and weirdness aside, Rhi and I wonder if Mods have really been all that great a think for us as a group...

"mass exodus back to Vanilla anyone"?

but yeah, basically just an idea, ETL and Rhi and I are talking on IRC, where the cool cats are
come join in, yay!

ok, since people got pissed here's a fun new chew toy for you all. seeing as Rhino doesn't want anything to do with Modded now, and the MafiaCraft server is otherwise empty, I'm moving it to this modpack:

I think we either give it a shot or let it die - all you people whining about resets need to understand once and for all:

Modded Minecraft Servers are not and can not be meant to last for months and months.
Even if Mods are not updated, problems can and will occur in long-term interaction the server will eventually implode.

I personally like this Modlist, and may play from time to time, but KMP is what I wanted (Klaz too) and I'll be on there most of the time I'm playing Modded. the ONLY thing I will do is help with SERVER-SIDE ISSUES. Oso will be handling all questions about how to set up the MultiMC instance to join the server, and he will be hosting the download for us. thank him, ok? we're doing this as is, it's no longer some big deal and won't have an update doc or community input or what-have-you. this is something I felt like doing because everyone flipped out about No More Modded. have fun with it, or don't, I don't really care what you do. I'll be on Vanilla a lot from now on - I hope other people will be too.

also if you've gonna ask for stuff to be carried over...uh

I guess you have 48 hours to throw whatever you want in as many Ender Chests are you have...? that work?
I'll leave chests outside Spawn with a royal fuckton of Dye/maybe Diamonds? in WhiteWhiteWhite, you can grab your stuff then

in other words, yeah - an Industrial Blast Furnace is a long way off from your first 24 hours in-game obviously, but just put your mind to something (anything) and you can usually get it done with a little focus and an easy, accessible system for MAKING SURE YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR SHIT IS

ETL - I have NO IDEA...which is new for this sort of thing

@Maru: your last comment is nothing to be proud of :P

(also, P.S. Mr. BigShotHostingCompanyOwnerManGuyDude: could ETL's problem be some stupid funky IPv4 v. IPv6 thing...? since that's computer related and involves "addresses" and is something I can marginally connect to Minecraft/Minecraft servers in my thoughts if I try hard enough...?

@dav: my place hasn't reduced in lag since I moved the Hydroplant? welp, either way, be glad I did

you all would be immobile within 60 blocks of my house :3

Are you "IntoTheFire2"? I've checked the server log but all I saw was somebody's IP endOfStream-ing a bunch of times - no username and no "You are not whitelisted on this server".

Also, for those playing on KMP, I've updated the KMPacks doc to let you all know how we currently stand. I've recently done a check on all our Mods - if you look in the "Most Recent Version" column, the way Klaz and I were marking it was Orange = "updated to 1.6.2; hasn't released a stable build yet", Green = "updated to 1.6.2; this build/release is considered stable/recommended". If there's no color in that column it means the Mod hasn't been updated to 1.6.2 at all.

Here's the link to follow along.

Also...welp. Lemme know if I need to add anything to add anything to the OP, hohum.

Dav, that just shows how long it's been since you logged on - the Donkey (not Horse) hasn't been in that Ravine for at least a couple weeks. The second to last time I was on I finishing mining what I wanted from that Ravine and got myself and the Donkey out (the only reason it was chillin' there was cuz I logged there when I was about to begin a mining trip). The Donkey's been home ever since. I think we should name him.

In other news, the last time I got on the Vanilla server (about 3 minutes ago now) I checked out UT's place - it looks awesome! I highly suggest everybody go
annoy him with signs like Bulba and I did
say hi if they get the chance. I have no idea what he plans on doing with the excessively-lit Diamond mine or the Bridge to Nowhere in Particular, but hey, worth seeing before it comes to fruition even so!

After that, I tried to go check out Oso's home...but I went in the COMPLETE opposite direction (CURSE YOU NEGATIVE SIGN) and fell down a Ravine in my haste to recover the time lost herpderping with my Map. Suffice to say, my noble steed Brego is currently chilling down a Ravine, hopefully safe from Monsters, until I get the motivation to go retrieve him from across an Ocean. :/ If any of you see him, consider him in need of foster parents and do feed him some Sugar if you have any...

I made my way back to Spawntown by myself and saw...a massive cube of Spruce Wood Planks.

And it's. Um. Quite ugly. (Sorry Fishy...)

If you plan on not playing anymore could I ask you to or receive permission to tear it down? I apologize for the harshness but I agree with Tierce on its presence being quite the eyesore... :( If you'd been around to finish it up (whatever it was going to be) or if you had other ideas for how to lessen the stark-ness of it (and not in a Winterfell way), I apologize, but otherwise...I kinda feel like something should be done about it.

Rob, ya could try and read the Op. We're on 1.6.1 (soon to be 1.6.2) and people weren't on for weeks until UT rejoined us. (Hooray!)

Anyway, I think we should all try and work on some kind of connection (SKYWAY) between Spawn-area-town-thing and UT's area.

In other news, my apologies Bulba/Fishy. Bulba: your cube is ugly as sin. :?

Uh...there aren't any "snapshots" coming out now. Snapshots come out in the lead-up to a full release, and we've only just had 1.6.1/1.6.2. You want 1.7 already? XD

Yes we will be updating to a new(er)/(est) version as they come out, as long as I know nothing will break beforehand, but the Op both implied that (I thought?) and showed what we were on 1.6.1. It is NOT the most recently released version however: 1.6.2 was out about a month ago, I've just needed an excuse to update us. :3 I'll most likely be doing that right now.

Also, uuuuuh...lemme double-check the difficulty.

Edit: Well whaddaya know. It's on "Easy". Not what I would've picked, but hey! People are probably used to it by now and dav's got enough deaths under his belt I don't feel too bad about it being a nonexistent challenge to stay alive. :P

Update those clients, bitches! We are CUTTING EDGE 1.6.2 material now-ish.
Also, MafiaCraft is officially dead. The updates I've made to the OP also reflect this. If you wanna play Modded Minecraft with M/Klaz/Blake/dav/ETL/Tierce/Clammycakes, join us on KMP. Bye now.

ALSO FOR ALL WINDOWS PEOPLE WHO HAVE EVER HAD ISSUES WITH KMP INSTALLATION, THIS IS FOR YOU:

[12:36am] M|Insane: Tierce, that reminds me
[12:36am] M|Insane: I installed KMP for a RL friend the other day and I think I know why Windows users were/are having issues with the installation of the Modpack/configs
[12:36am] davroe19: Oh?
[12:36am] M|Insane: Mac OS X and Windows 7/Vista/8 handle .zip files differently, and the default Windows compression utility is shit at reading compressed directories and files originating from a Mac OS
[12:37am] M|Insane: the SIMPLE EASY SOLUTION is to download and install 7Zip and use that to decompress all .zip files I send out ever
[12:37am] M|Insane: it seems to streamline the process for some reason
[12:37am] M|Insane: the default Windows unzipper does not
[12:38am] M|Insane: so do that, you should be golden
[12:38am] M|Insane: otherwise, you have a fuckton of file/directory issues

Download 7zip here.

Hey everybody's complaining. I'll do it soon but using webchat is silly and you should all feel silly. Get IRC clients.

Also Vanilla IRC won't be a thing unless we have Forge/ForgeIRC and/or Bukkit/CraftIRC and/or some similar solution updated to 1.6.2. The reason is because the only
OTHER
way to get a connection to IRC is an internal script inside the server software itself, and that shit needs permissions that I don't/can't have for the machine the server is hosted on in Corin's basement or whatever. Since we already get this server for free, and since our gracious hosting services are kindof more attentive to other things (like profits, for which I don't blame them at all) I am
NOT
going to bug Corin about doing this IRC scripting himself. I understand you guys like having IRC connectivity, and I do too. But we need to wait for one of the stable, easy-to-use pathway Mods to become updated/available before we can get it.

CraftIRC is currently up to 1.6.1, which is cool. It should be 1.6.2 by September, I'd imagine. I'll look into a stable Bukkit build then, but understand that if I install Bukkit I believe the majority agrees with me when I say we should and will have
NOTHING
except CraftIRC: no Essentials /spawn, /tp, /warp - none of it.

I need Rob13_ to be white-listed, please.
RE: the first thing - I do too bro, I even change my nick on IRC so I don't ping myself when I talk in-game on KMP.

Yeah, I'm semi-annoyed that IRC seems to be a defining feature of all of our Minecraft experiences now.

FWIW whenever a big conversation is going on on IRC, I really have trouble tuning it out, unlike others, so I get peeved and annoyed rather than intent on listening - at least generally speaking. Maru's conversations are the obvious example, but I feel like he's not the only one. I just think Vanilla is kinda nice and peaceful, maybe even that much more Vanilla because it
ISN'T
connected to IRC at the moment.

The issue is not technically that it's not worth it for Corin to do this for us, the issue is I outright refuse to let anybody here bother them with this non-issue when their concern is and should be keeping their company afloat - honestly, it should be our concern too. No other host is going to give use the kind of access/performance we have already, and
FOR FREE
.

P-Edit @ETL: you can talk in the game or via the Multicraft chat we've explained how to use several times before. Just because something is convenient doesn't make it necessary. And it certainly doesn't make it necessary to play a game. You all honestly need to talk to people who aren't playing that often when you ARE playing, or vice versa? Then get peoples' Skypes or phone numbers
OR JUST WAIT PATIENTLY
for IRC to be a practical, stable, easy-to-implement option and this won't even be an issue. Jesus.

Obviously I already consider it to not be an issue and it's not like there's any been any presentation of any viable option that isn't "wait for Craft/Forge IRC to update or go on without IRC" so I don't even know why we're discussing this.

Ok, I'm sorry for those like Rhinox who like IRC and will still play without whining about this every month...but c'mon. I thought I was heavily implying this enough but I'll come out and say it if you all want me to. It's not really up for discussion. We're waiting on either ForgeIRC or CraftIRC to update to 1.6.2. That's it.

CraftIRC is already 1.6.1 compatible, and with BukkitDev still chugging along like a regular old Thomas, we'll have IRC soon enough. All I ask for is patience. Rob, you've been gone for months. Hell, the
ENTIRE VANILLA SERVER
has been nigh-on empty for a long time. Things will happen, but not overnight. We all will just have to deal with that.

Hey, any other Windows users having issues with ID mismatches on KMP?
A RL friend isn't able to connect so I've been helping him.

ETL or Rob - I'd love it if one of you could .zip up your config folder. I'll give him the link; that should fix the issue. :P

LOLWTF

Also, just a heads-up: I said this rather rudely in IRC, but basically my point was that people who played on the last Vanilla server should understand that I don't have the whitelist from that server. I've said as much several times in-thread. All I ask is that instead of posting on here or in IRC asking why you aren't whitelisted or asking to be whitelisted, understand that if you hadn't been on the current Vanilla before I reinstalled the whitelist, you WON'T be whitelisted. Just give me your UN again and you'll be in. I'd rather do it preemptively; I don't want to have to do it AFTER you you find out you aren't whitelisted because you haven't been keeping up on the thread.

I have a full back-up of the Vanilla Server from a couple hours ago, so the switch should only require a switching of the IP you have input into the multiplayer screen on your 1.6.2 Clients. Because of issues I've had for awhile with online payments, I'm basically going to be paying for stuff through Klaz...so this is...not optimal, but what're you gonna do.

^ ...which will change because we will be purchasing a dedicated IP address for both servers.
The port number on the end of the IP will be the difference between MafiaCraft Vanilla and KMP Modded.

I will keep the OP updated with all details of the switch. The move for Vanilla was completed seamlessly about 5 minutes ago - enjoy!

Hey KMPeople, go here, click "Download" in the upper left corner of the main bar (it's the button that looks like  ), replace the file in /config/forestry/extratrees with that file. ETL and I are running a fix she looked into to solve our Binnieshit issues. I made a full backup in case we need to correct any catastrophic failures but I'm on now and everything seems perfectly fine. Lemme know if you see any issues when you log on.

We will have bleeding edge updates, but A) 1.7 is nowhere near out yet, seeing as we haven't even seen a single snapshot yet, and B) I think most people would be opposed to the restart "so soon" especially when it
seems
like the only Bad Thing
TM
that will occur otherwise are the ugly Biome borders on unexplored terrain.

That being said, we'd also have to go
REALLY
far to find the new goodies and see the new world.

I'm sure people can figure out my opinion on the matter, so I won't say anything and will completely discourage discussion on the matter for now.

PE: ...huh, I like this guy.

lolizak, people will be unhappy if a world stays alive but has issues and/or suffers from inactivity, people will be unhappy if we don't have bleeding edge updates. People will certainly get upset if we have no Vanilla server at all, which, if you'll remember, was the situation we faced. The temporary loss of the server files till Maru/Corin found Corin's backup was a considerable amount of time when a bunch of us did (at least for awhile) want to play Vanilla MC with eachother.

What would you have recommended given those circumstances?

I'd seriously like to think we should honor Rhinox's "you haven't been playing so you don't get a vote" but honestly many people only play Vanilla for "the next big thing", they make their way through what they want to do, and get bored quickly. Same with modded, tbqh, it's just Modded has more bells and whistles. There's no one way to play, there's no one way that's best for everybody. There's compromise or there's stagnation and I thought we'd chosen to adopt the former rather than the latter.

THE ENCHANTED KIND?!? WTF IZAK ( P.S. Is that yellow/white disc in your inventory mellohi? I may be interested in buying...and I would really love a name tag if possible. <3 )

I like the idea of updating and not restarting I guess, I was just reiterating some of the points that were brought up relatively recently.

Meh, I could set it up, but I'll leave it up to people whether to decide to move to where it puts you or not - people are already KINDA spread out so I don't personally have an issue with that idea, but I think we've settled on keeping the same map, yeah. I dunno, I kinda like the fugly biome borders - nostalgia +10. Soon enough we'll long for the days when we'd come across a Desert lining a Jungle.

No clue. I've been working on the subway system.

Anyways, end portal up. Saturday GMTevening/ESTafternoon for the dragon fight, anyone? I'd like to try and kill the dragon reasonably near the End's spawn point, so when I get round to building an ender-ender later it's not too much of a pain to set up the rail lines.

As for End raiding, I'll have an awful lot of work to do to get prepared for a Sat. run.

Meh. People massively overestimate what you need for a dragon run, especially if you're doing it with a group. Really, low-level enchants on iron gear, a power I bow with a decent stock of arrows, a water bucket in case you attract endermen, food, and blocks should be enough.
For whom it may concern. Please don't tell people (me) to do things (like sucking a dick) that you will (hopefully) regret later.

P.S. Rhinox, I'm spawning cows back in for you and Klaz - I'm assuming that it was baldeagle or chkflip or one of our other relatively new arrivals and you need not come forward in public, just understand others' frustration and respond accordingly by trying to be considerate, kthxbye.

It IS a pre-generated Village, but 1) I've been undertaking huge renovations including the semi-complete gravel path extending around the water-logged side of the Village, and 2) that's not the point, the point is the screenie looks fucking amazing.

Yes, that is a lens flare IN-GAME.
Yes, there're chunk lines in the beautiful water. *grumble* (I'm still looking into which shaderpack I like the most. Will post other screenshots as I go.)

Yeah, but please don't start till I come back on sometime soon.

@ETL: As far as I understood it, shaders are basically files Minecraft uses to render the various effects programmed into the game - anything rendered that isn't blocks is, from my understanding, involved with shaders. The Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the Sky, Liquids, shadows (if there are any), most (if not all) animations, etc. Recently, I found a VERY easy tutorial that explains the current installation instructions for a Mod that allows you to change what "shader packs" you use in Minecraft.

Check the description first to skip half of the video and head straight to the tutorial - there're also download links down there if you don't wanna hear his instructions.

The shader pack Tierce and Oso immediately thought of when I posted that screenie is "Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders" which has been around since before MC Release v1.3. SEUS is still the most commonly used, I guess, but in the download link(s) in the description of the video above, he supplies you with a collection of about 50 (???) different shader packs all made by different people and with varying changes from MC's default shaders. You can click and switch through them all in-game through a new mini-menu called "Shaders", right under video settings.

I'll double check some other time to share with you the name of the one above, which I felt was the best for me. Obviously I'm using Coterie Craft with it; I'd recommend using a non-Default texture pack with these, I'm not sure why but it seems to improve the performance slightly. That being said, if you don't run with upwards of 150-200 FPS on Vanilla Vanilla, you probably shouldn't try these. You'll just end up with one beautiful, unplayable game.

Nope, just me. I converted ETL to our cause though - HAPPY BIRTHDAY X

EDIT: Lol, ETL. I've been using Coterie since before you were on the server, somewhere around soon after I joined. I can go find the post where Xalxe posted screenshots if you like, I've been using it pretty much consistently since then.

Also, izak, I'm assuming this ominous chat message I saw in the console log are your coords in the Nether?

If so, I'll go and start blocking up that area. I also actually have some leftover Health II potions in my stash from when I battled the Wither awhile back. I'll bring those. You will survive.

In other news, I think it's best that (despite promises for bleeding-edge updates) we not update to any of the snapshots coming out in the lead-up to 1.7. They've been horrendously buggy thus far, with the major issues focused around moving pre-1.7ish worlds into the new 1.7ish worldgen - which is exactly what we'd be doing with our server. I'm well aware of all the things we'll have to think about before 1.7, including 1.6.3's imminent release to assist with the switchover and hopefully correct some of the rampant issues.

At this time I'm mainly focusing on deciding whether we update right with 1.7 or whether we're going to wait for the 1.7.1/1.7.2 that're most likely going to be released shortly thereafter, similarly to what occurred in 1.5 and 1.6. Since some people are more focused on RobCraft at this point, I'm hoping this won't be a huge point of contension, but even if it is, here: a consolation prize/bribe is in order.

:D

Have fun with that till we update Vanilla - and rest assured I'm still keeping an eye on CraftIRC and ForgeIRC. I'll look into those as soon as they become viable options.

I'll help, Bulba. But I'm also currently homeless - I'll be working on that a lot in the coming weeks when I have time.
Klaz: a little while ago we lost ALL the animals in Spawnton on Vanilla except for davroe's Iron-Armored Horse.

:/

I did a lot of work with Spawn Eggs for Tierce and Rhinox last week, lemme tell ya.

You gonna be online around 12:30 PM EST (2 hours from now)? If so, I can do some Spawn Egging and we can get a close approximation, like I did with Klaz's "Spot". Right now there's a Diamond-Armored horse by the autofarm up on Tierce's path that was meant for you - have you seen it? It's already tamed and saddled - if you'd just like that one lemme know.

Also, Vanilla stuff: the recent 13w38's reinforced my opinion of the somewhat laughable issues with these 1.7 snapshots. Until we get something that doesn't need a Version a, b, and c during a snapshot release, I'm not updating. Also CraftIRC is still 1.6.1 ONLY but I'm looking into another possible IRC solution.

I'm gonna make a custom modpack, and play in ssp. This modpack will be tech free, focusing on thaumcraft, tinkers, and worldgen/dimensional mods (Biomes o plenty, Atum, Twilight Forest, and Aether2)

the new thing? I'm gonna play it in hardcore, and I'm gonna write a story about my adventure from the perspective of my player character. (Was thinking about nuzlockes this morning, and I decided I wanted to try one in Minecraft.)

Full Mod List:

Client side Mods:
Zan's Minimap
NEI
DamageIndicators
InventoryTweaks
MouseTweaks
Optifine

Main Mods:
Thaumcraft 3 (With Thaumic Tinker)
Biomes o' Plenty
Tinker's Construct
Equalivent Exchange 3 (with Equalivency)
Natura
Aether2
Atum
Twilight Forest
Xeno's Reliquary

Utility Mods:

BiblioCraft

EnchancedPortals 2
Extra Utilites
Enchanting Plus
Portal Gun
Iron Chests
InfiBows
ObsidanPlates
SoulShards
Ender Storage
ChickenChunks

what do you all think of that? Any ideas or suggestions before I start it tonight? Am I missing any obvious mods? (Don't mention MystCraft- that was a choice I made. I am choosing enhanced portals as the transportation of choice.)
I'd HIGHLY recommend ditching AetherII. It's too all-consuming once you get into it and I believe it has some major compatibility issues but since it's just you you may be willing to work through those. Sounds like fun!

No no no no no. It changes the main menu, the achievement system, looting and structure worldgen (sometimes), and a fuckton of other stuff. And that's just in the OW, I think. Check out the MCF thread on Aether II, I'm not sure where I heard about compatibility issues but I might've just assumed because of how much it changed it'd be bad news. That, and is it updated to whatever MCv you'd want to use...?

What Rhinox said, and jsyk Rob, /msg was working last time I was on. I talked to Blake last night over /msg about what I found out I was missing...I'd completely written off several things because I thought I'd lost them but I found the same evidence Klaz did, making me think they weren't really just lost. :/

I'll do it when I'm on later if Klaz/somebody else hasn't already offered over IRC.

Hey, I want in on Skyblock. Possibly just as an observer.
How will you be setting up the Void World? Or is it done through a map download?

You forget that we need Spoils Bags to contain Sugar Cane and Leather before we can start Mystcraft. :P
Hell, have fun getting the Iron for an Ink Mixer or Book Binder, let alone Sugar Cane or Leather.

Basically the whole experience requires grinding the fuck out of Mobs for Spoil Bags, which would be more fun IF they weren't super rare drops and their contents weren't randomized from "ridiculously OP" to "obscenely useless", including every possibility in-between.

Is it even possible to find Sugar Cane/Leather in Spoils Bags given the loot possibilities (Bonus Starting Chest, Village Blacksmith Chests, Dungeon Chests, Desert Tomb Chests, Jungle Temple Chests, Stronghold Storeroom Chests, Stronghold Corridor Chests, Stronghold Library Chests, and Mineshaft Chests)?

Yes Klaz, this came about as a direct result of exactly what you're thinking of. :P

Tome multiplies things using Redstone/Lapis/Lapis Blocks
Orb divides things into Redstone/Lapis/Lapis Blocks based on what they're usually multiplied with and at what ratio

the error with the Orb, Rob, is all the value calculations you saw yourself, spamming the server console
when the Tome is a simple crafting recipe, I agree with Klaz - the issue shouldn't exist at all
