- Updated Forge to 39.1.0

Just wanted to say this is still the current version on the server. There is a v5.0.0 on curseforge but it hasn't been uploaded yet because I've been super busy with work and other life things. I'm going out of town for the next 10 days but when I get back the plan is to start working on a 1.18.2 pack as a lot of mods went right to that version, skipping 1.18.1. I'll need to do a bit more research to see if maybe we want to wait until mods for 1.19 are more established, and maybe in the meantime we can launch a vanilla server running the latest snapshots.

Click the "Add more content" button on the modpack profile

Type in ItemChat in the search bar and press Enter. Click Install.
Do the same for Stack Refill

I've started reviewing mods to include on a very basic level. Right now there are a couple of mods I'm waiting on to be updated, such as Botania, Tinker's, EnderIO. Depending on how updates are coming along, the pack will be either 1.19.1 or 1.19.2. I'm shooting to have it ready by winter break/Christmas break. Please feel free to send me suggestions of mods you've come across that you think would be interesting/fun. The idea for this one is probably going to be more exploration/combat focused - more dimensions to explore, mini-boss-like mobs that drop fun/enchanted loot, etc. as well as highly magic. Of course these packs are always "kitchen-sink" in general, so there will be the usual tech mods as they become available (Thermal series, Mekanism, etc).

Once I have a basic pack set up in CurseForge, we'll be putting up on GitHub for edits and testing, likely mid-November.

What version(s) and/or plugin(s) would these sorts of lovely lurkers prefer to play on/participate in? General server rules unlikely to change, check the OP on those, but I would love hearing feedback... and I know a LOT of ppl don't care/don't want to play with mods. I miss some of those people... hence this post!

I'll probably go with Paper (Bukkit for plugins on 1.19.2),

#1 priority would be keeping the server completely mod-free, server plugins only, so essentially Vanilla

from the players' PoV, but most likely with some flashy bells and whistles, both from servers past and newer things we may find useful or that I may want from an admin standpoint. My own personal preference would be to say each player will have a /home, we may have /spawn, and that's it, but it's open for discussion, as always! Giving meaning back to some of the many travel options in Vanilla means one of the biggest appeals of the building and one of the biggest appeals of servers past can possibly return! Not to mention, groups of players become fun and meaningful again... in a way they are often not in Modded, especially. Send me your words! I'm investigating plugins and versions right now, while doing a Haunting of Hill House marathon with a friend

not creative, no, survival mostly is what we play. There isn't really a newbie guide but most of the people on the server are super helpful both in setting it up, and in-game to get you started, and it is connected with discord so people can help without being online too

Hey there! New server was my birthday present, eh Dave? I'll update OP with whatever we're running now if it needs updating, @ Xevei/Dave, but anybody else around in the mood for Vanilla, or for a new modpack of some kind? I think mainly we're suffering from a lack of interest or community presence at the moment; you all (@Xevei/Dave) could essentially be running what you want and doing whatever, given how many of the rest of us who are somewhat present don't/can't play much.

I definitely have felt the pain when it comes to newer/bigger packs basically being an unintended gateway for Modded, yeah. We've tried to push "Modded Lite"-style modpacks before, and plugin Vanilla (+Bukkit/Spigot/etc.) servers have been super popular here before. They're a bit harder to manage, but could be time to go with the plugin route and essentially a Vanilla modded server, if people wanted certain "features" of Modded in an otherwise-Vanilla world, as a compromise between the two, almost?

I have stopped the server for now. It doesn't appear anyone has logged on for ages, but better to be safe.
If there is interest in keeping this server, we can update after the modpack updates with the fixes.
