Picture Uploading Problem

I am having problems uploading pics to the wiki, I occasionally have to change the destination filename as it does not like the MIME type? (ie. for a jpg pic titled 23_4.jpg I have had to change the destination name to 23_4.png) but I now recieve this message "The upload directory (public) is not writable by the webserver." and I cant seem to work round it. Any help please?

Thanks. This was caused by the wiki upgrade. I have fixed it.

It was 800 by 600, but thanks Kison, Ill try again.

We need to make a note - for some reason every time we upgrade the wiki it seems to want to do this.
