PM's to be sent very shortly

Most of the rules and ettiquette will be familiar, but please scan them anyway.

Rules and etiquette (mostly stolen from DP's games):
 • During the game's nights, everyone who has to do so sends me an E-mail.
 • Please refrain from posting in this thread during the night. You may only post notice of absence, or maybe a "BAH!" during the night.
 • In the "morning" I announce the events of the night. During the daytime you discuss and vote to kill someone. I will announce beforehand how many votes are required for killing. It is my prerogative to set a time limit on the voting; I will announce that at least 24 hours before the limit expires.
 • Under no circumstance are you allowed to show any E-mails from me or others.
 • Please do not discuss this game via Instant messenger, E-mails (unless you are part of a group, and then only when it is night) or IRL....
 • If you are dead, you are dead. Do not post any information afterwards.
 • The moderator (that's me) is always right; you may not like it, but mods put a lot of effort in creating and moderating the game and their decision should be final.
 • The night arrives when I post that it is night. Once a majority is reached, that person gets lynched. You may continue to discuss during twilight (while you walk home) but you may not post at night.
 • I will be using DP's lynch rules. The person with a simple majority gets lynched. If a deadline is set, the person with the most votes will be lynched as long as that person has half the majority.
 • You may vote to not lynch anyone. In doing so, you go home. You MAY NOT post again after voting no lynch unless you are dragged from your house by getting half the majority.

In the beautiful village of Spaghetti life was good. The sun always shined, the dogs never barked after dark and as a rule people were very happy and hospitable to each other.

Then something changed. It was hard to distinguish at first but it was obvious something was wrong. It was as if a shadow had fallen over the village. Where there would be a courteous neighbour - now there was only suspicion.

The reason for this.... the mafia were in town.

How did everyone know?

Simple - Captain Blicero (a delusional townie who thought he was a cop) was found murdered this morning. With a note stappled to his forehead saying "The mafia are back!". Quite obvious really!

It is now day - please vote - deadline Wednesday 29 Jan - 5pm (UK time)

How fun for you.

OTOH, might as well roll my own D10...

Vote: Green Crayon

[as tempted as I am to vote Meme for having a nick too similar to mine. :]

And dare I say it...but anyone want to play the "if I were a cop, X would not be mafia" game? It's probably best to play on the second day, though (since by then, either the cop has found two Mafia and should be singling them out since that's worth the Cop's life...or they have found at least one innocent and don't have to point to a mafia and doom themselves in order to guaruntee giving true information post-mortem.

BTW, how does a "delusional cop" (as opposed to a paranoid/naive cop) work? Random determination of role when they target someone?

Ah, mneme...it is
you
who signed up with a nickname similar to
mine
-- plain to anyone who glances at the post counts under names. So, don't make anyone mad at you, mneme -- I don't want to get caught in typo crossfire.

Pete Rose is a genuine American Hero!

How can you even think of banishing him?

(actually, since I no longer giggle everytime I see it, I am willing to change my avatar if y'all would like me to do so.)

Delusional cop sounds like a new role to me. Never seen it before. I'm wondering what sort of other roles we have, though (do we have someone who thinks he's a doctor or something instead of mafia and a serial killer who saved his victims? Or was that the only delusional one?).

I'm going to Vote: mneme because your name sounds too much like meme... or is that the other way round. It's all too confusing for a newbie.

Curtaindog: too much like -yours-? Huh?
OTOH, starting a bandwagon ain't so cool...

(fwiw, Mneme long predates mafiascum.net, though my alt, mnemex, is the only one that I top google on; I only use that when I can't get mneme, though).

In any case....

CB was a
pro-town
role who thought he was a powerful
pro-town
role. Telling someone they're scum when they're actually town or vice versa would seem to make the set-up unplayable, IMO. Why do you ask, though, eillid? Were you told you were mafia and are hoping you're not?

And what's with the broken link, Don?

I'm always thrilled when I'm mafia, MeMe. Or SK. Or cop.... :) Roles are awesome.
And that'd still be playable. The doctor would just have to figure out that he's killing, and the SK that he's saving, and the mafia that they're masons, or whatever. Like paranoid and naive cops. I'm just thinking that if we have a delusional cop, who else might be thinking he's something he's not?

mneme -
See, even you're confused *grin*.
I guess I'll have to be more liberal with my capitalisation of MeMe in future.

In any case, all you need to give is a reason to vote elsewhere (which I'm not saying you should necessarily do yet). Simply counter-voting gives me no reason for me to change my mind. So for now my vote is still -
Vote:mneme

(anyway: you were the one who first gave me the idea of voting on the basis of name similarity, even if was only intended as a joke. you gotta appreciate the irony :)

It's not a "real" link. The site just thinks it is since I wrote it that way. If I did make it a real site, I would just post the largest possible picture of my naked butt there and nothing else. That would put the punctuation on the point, wouldn't it?

IMO, the motives you tell someone should always be accurate...but that doesn't mean you can't have a SK who thinks they're a cop (ie, a pro-town killing role, who always has the option -not- to kill), or whatever.

I do think the goals should match what you give them even if their abilities don't, though.

And CurtainDog, I may have joked about lynching for similar names, but I didn't try to do it....
