A long long time ago in France. King Louis XIII reigns, but Cardinal Richelieu is the man really pulling the strings. Richelieu and his helpers have decided now that this situation should be formalised in the simplest possible way - by eliminating all their opponents. The King and his people rely on those swashbuckling heroes, the Musketeers, to avoid this.
The usual rules apply. Main points:
1. During the game's nights, no posting, and conferring with othe players unless you are part of a group. Email me your choices if your role requires you to do so. In the first round, if you are not in time, I will randomly choose for you. All other rounds, no choice sent, no choice made.
2. During the game's days, no conferring with other players outside the thread.
3. Lynching will be by majority (no confim votes, majority = lynch). I may set a deadline for days (and may retract it), in which case at least half of the regular majority is required for a lynch. In case of a tie, the player who got there first loses his head.
4. When you are dead, you are dead. No more posting in this thread (something likebuggerorgo townis allowed). The thread will be locked at nights anyway.
5. Don't be a jerk.
6. When you have questions on your role, on the game or on my decisions, email me.
7. Please realise that mafia can only be an enjoyable game if all players post regularly and vote. Should you be gone for 3 or more days on a stretch, please post so in the thread.

The bells of the Notre Dame toll as a grey winters day dawn breaks over Paris. On the square in front of the imposing building you find two bodies. Paris Citizen Mikegoo has been skillfully skewered by a sabre of the type used by the Cardinals men. Better news for the good side is that the other victim is Milady de Winter (Jadesmar), one of the Cardinals trusted helpers. She has been strangled.
Eighteen left, ten votes to burn one of you at the stake.Last edited by Dragon Phoenix on Sun Mar 09, 2003 6:51 am, edited 1 time in total.-

It is fair news indeed that one of the Cardinal's entourage has fallen during the night. Would that it were the hand of Paris that lead to her execution than the lunacy of some hidden stalker in the night.
I shall be be so brave as to allude that there are three of the Cardinal's troupe at large. Furthermore, this lunatic murderer may have had an accomplice, such is the way of madmen. I fear, however, that I can not truthfully say who among us are treachers to the monarchy. But there is no exuse for an idle gesture so I shallvote: Mikegoo.- Dourgrim

vote: Leonidas... completely and utterly random.
As a side note, I will be unable to check the boards until Monday afternoon at the latest... please don't lynch me in my absence.
Carry on, fair people, and oust these foul lackeys of the evil Cardinal! The point of the journey is not to arrive...-

Boy, this is going to be a tough game. I was born in St. Louis, and consequently I have rooted for the Cardinals all my life. Now I need to find and lynch them. It's like finding out your dog has rabies and you have to shoot him. I cried when I read Old Yeller. What are we doing here? Oh yeah. Mafia.
vote: Nightmare Dragoon
Did anyone notice that SaberKitty's initials are SK? I wonder if she's the Serial Killer?- MeMe

There's treachery afoot. My dear Bobacino, thou speakest wisely, for truly the monarchy is in great danger. Indeed, I am quite content that the musketeers have been sent for. The crown is in dire need of their aid.
May we burn the cardinal's men at the stake for their villany. Now, we should drink and make merry whilst discussing the future of Paris.

Hmm... if goo had been killed by the strangler and not the Cardinals, I'd be certain that Bobacino was an assassin type role. Even so...
vote: Bobacinofor voting a dead person in the FIRST POST of the game... no way he can say he forgot who died... he posted immediately after the death scene (1.5 hours after it was posted)

I do so hope that you are not obliquely refering to me in that missive. Then again, if you were, perhaps you would have voted for me, and not a dead man.

Twas an unthinkable thing to raise guilt upon a strangled man the morning after his death...
In other words:
Ah, crap. And I thought I was being a good poster by getting into the style of the game. Obviously I didn't read the intro properly. Sorry.
unvote: Mikegoo the Deadfor being paranoid about my post.

Yeah, CoolBot...I might have to switch to flowers and gift certificates as no one seems to appreciate my method of welcome.
Oh - wait - I think I did that wrong...
Yea. Mayhap I needs change my greeting ritual to include blossoms from yonder field and gratis tune-ups at thine local Meineke. 'Twould be a gesture received with open arms. I find serving newcomers as yourself, kind fellow, with token votes to be sorely lacking in creating the desired feeling of belonging in the recipient. I curse the day I thought of it. Alright, so right now most people are suspicious of Bobacino. I'm not going to vote for himyet, only because I think itcouldhave been the stupidest mistake someone can make. Still, one might think this calls for a vote. Well I don't. However I will drop a bigFOS on Bobacinofor that.
A vote could come soon.Ever wonder why that edit button is obnoxiously placed in the center like that? Yeah, that's cause of me.. and trust me, it's better off there.-

If you click [Reply] and look at the most recent posts in the window beneath the text box, the second one before Bobacino's mistake has acompletelist of players, not just the living ones. I could see how he could make such a mistake, especially after typing all that flowery prose. I'm not voting for him. I want to see more flowery prose, though.- MeMe

Quailman, my thought processes mirrored yours and I have even gone so far as to tentatively clear Bobacino of being part of the Cardinal's gang, as he voted for their dead target (either very innocent or very clever). Jeep and Night Stalker jumped to follow Leonidas' reasoning, which I find to be hurried, but not necessarily suspicious. Dragon Slayer, however...Dragon Slayer wrote:Alright, so right now most people are suspicious of Bobacino. A vote could come soon. Most people? Three = most in an 18-player game? And this comes after Bobacino posted and changed his vote! Seems like DS wants to join the bandwagon, but is taking his time. Perhaps so when an innocent is lynched he can say "well, if you recall, I didn't think it demanded a vote -- just a big FOS with a vote which could 'come soon' -- the mob carried me along."
