So has anyone tried ? It's a microgame but it's actually crazy fun. I may run it in MM as it's super simple.

Also I think I'm really in to right now and I'm curious as to everyone else's thoughts. Basically I'm worried that it might not go over well 'cause it's pretty personal; like Resistance and Lifeboats don't do so well but the basic mass-market Survivor game and the trading part of Settlers do.

I played on Wednesday. It was an ok city-building/stock market-esque game. It had a few issues, such as way too much randomness in the mechanics around the city-building portion. It was enjoyable enough, but I wouldn't recommend playing it more than once. I think each half of the mechanics have been done better elsewhere.

I love it, the few times I've played it. At the very least you have the whole cool powers thing going on, unlike the resistance and lifeboats. I think it's very different than the Resistance though, er and not pure cutthroat like lifeboats is. (Which I've never played, but basically that's the whole game, right?) Still not sure they'd really like it, though.

Played a game of it on Thursday.

I think is better, but is so amazingly silly. My major problem remains that it doesn't really have any time limit - our game lasted 2.5 hours due to a lot of back and forth, and I feel like that was a little bit of outstaying its welcome. City of Horror just runs faster and cleaner.

Still a great game that I'm not at all sad to own.

Cosmic Encounter is super fun, but be careful not to play with too many people. My first game of Cosmic encounter took probably 2 hours and everybody got 1 turn.

Well some group was inviting too many people along on their encounters.

I think we got around 8 or 10 turns in or so in our game? It was hyper defensive, and negotiations just didn't happen.

I have been nearly, neeearly playing Cosmic Encounter for about two years now. I really want to finally try it.

Highest on my to-do list at the moment, though, is . Looks fantastic.

Could Cosmic encounter work on forum/Vassal/BSW?

I think my first playthrough would be like 3-6 players, probably more likely lower numbers. But it's literally $46 and that would be the most I would have ever spent on a board game. (I know, I'm fortunate/cheap. The most I've ever spent is like $41 for , which never gets played. :'( Anyone wanna trade?)

Speaking of which I woke up this morning and Amazon sent me mail telling me was on sale but it was still $35

I rather intensely dislike ... so that's a no.

I guess I would run cosmic on forum if people really wanted it, it would be fun to mod, but it's a very component-friendly game (you get 20 little UFOs that are a big part of the game). Best option is to find a gamestore with a library, and test it there.

Cosmic is great, the powers are super fun (mostly). We played a game with like 7 or so at The Reckoning and it went by pretty quick, so it varies, but I've played it a few times now and only had a bad experience with UN!


edit: I don't think Cosmic would work very well with 3, Chevre. (Never played it with that number...but, it seems like it'd remove a lot of the fun)
