It was just another day at the valley of Deception. The sun was sizzling, water ran in a stream through the valley, boulders were everywhere as they usually are in valleys in the middle of the desert and wild life were nowhere to be seen. All living things including cayotes, deers and rabbits had fled the scene at the sight of six approaching men. They were all horseback and each carried a shotgun by their side. As they got nearer to the stream, they spotted a crouching man examining a familiar boulder. That man was their leader, self-proclaimed Doctor or the Shotgun Gang. Right now, he was intensely staring at the boulder, and his eyes were glittering with frustration.
"What's up, Doc?" One of the six men asked. Doctor slowly stood up from his position and moved his manic eyes to face his gang. He looked carefully at each of them and picked his shotgun up from the ground with one hand and pumped it with the same hand. The metallic sound made those six men flinch a little. The man wasn't the leader of Shotgun Gang for nothing.
"There is a back-stabbing dirty rat among us here today. Actually make that two back-stabbing dirty rats." Doctor spoke in a snarly voice.
"What do you mean, boss? I mean, Doc?"
"You see, we are here today, to do some serious business of gold diggin'. We were gonna kiss our shotguns goodbye and embrace the new life of honest hard day's work. But no, looks like some of us just can't leave his shotgun out of their lives."
"We still don't get what you mean, Doc."
"You see this boulder here?" Doctor pointed at the boulder he was examining a moment ago.
"Uhh, yeah. That's the gold boulder which screamed at us that there's a gold to be dug around here."
"Yes, we bought this piece of land just because of this boulder. From them Morgan boys. It occurs to me that some of us had done some dirty business with them. This boulder here, is a fake! A phoney!!" At this declaration, everyone's eyes widened.
"Fake?!" "It can't be!" "How can a gold boulder be fake?!"
"Shut up and I'll show you!" Doctor shouted. He whirled his shotgun with one hand and aimed it at the boulder. Without looking at it, he fired. With a loud crack, the shotgun blazed and spat out the ingredients of its shell. It was unbelievable. The gun had shot gold crumbs! Hundreds of small gold pieces were now firmly stuck on the gold boulder just like the ones they've seen.
"We were...tricked! Those bastards! They'll pay for this." One of them shouted.
"Steady, now, mate. We ain't going nowhere until we figure out who among us is the traitor. Because I've found these as well." Doctor threw two different empty shotgun shells on the ground. "They're our gang's shells. Two different men. I've found them right under that boulder. We go on like this, with two rats among us, Morgan boys easily outnumber us. We first find out who the hell traded with them behind our backs, kill them first and
"Sounds like a plan." Suddenly with a loud hiss, a black rattlesnake sprang out of nowhere to bite Doctor's ankles. Doctor reacted instantly by shooting his shotgun at the snake and blew it into million pieces, but it was too late. The poison was spreading in his body.
"Well, I'll be damned..." before he could finish the sentence, Doctor lost his balance and fell to the ground.
"Why that's a black rattlesnake! It will cause paralysis all over your body and you won't be able to move or speak no more if we don't get an antidote!" Shouted Shotty, the trusted sidekick of Doctor.
"Shit. Okay, Shotty, you run back to the Town and get some antidote for us would ya? You are Doctor's own son. You can't be with them Morgans." One of them said.
"Alright. I'll be quick. Y'all just wait here for me, alright? Keep Doctor safe." Saying this Shotty turned his horse around and started to run back to Town as fast as he could.
The remaining five men got off their horses and faced each other. They all held shotgun on their hand and each of them were skilled enough to kill another. ".....Okay, ChaosOmega, open up your barrels and show us your shell. Let's see if you've got some gold crumbs stuffed in that." Chimera said.
"Ain't no way in hell I'm doing that before I see your own god damn shell, Chimera." ChaosOmega growled. His long slender finger was already on the trigger.
"Do as he says." Said Om of the Nom to ChaosOmega. He had a stern look on his scarred face.
"Why are you siding with Chimera, Om of the Nom?" Said Kcdaspot and he pointed his gun at Om of the Nom's head.
"Have we got us a problem here?" Asked RachMarie to everyone. She was chewing on her toothpick and glared at each gang members. The sunlight blazed and the day was getting hotter and hotter.
Will they succeed finding the two culprits behind this?
Will they have a Mexican Standoff and shoot each others to smitherens?
Will they get their vengeance on Morgan boys?
Will Shotgun live?
Is Shotty really Shotgun's son?
