We should all read my Carbon game for gamebreaking strategies. Anyway, I don't trust TeChNoWC to be town and lead us in a game-break yet. I think it's a lot more likely that he's

Whiskers. Dat obvi logical fallacy.

Anyone up for no lynches, D2 hypo claims and/or predetermined targets?

Whiskers link your Carbon game and lets break the fuck out of 443 (and yo face if you are scum)

What I mean is: If scum leads the town in a "setup-breaking strategy," then they can do about whatever they want just so long as town doesn't
quite
understand.
Hypocop/seering Day2 makes sense, I don't see the point of no-lynches, and the game is in my "Topics," clearly marked Carbon 14 (I'm a bit relaxing right now and not doing links. Maybe later if you or somepony else hasn't linked it.)

no lynches keep the townpool up to help move the gamebreaker along. Basically when you combine all three elements, every night we:
1. Conf a townie
2. Condemn a maf/werewolf to a horrible death
3. Direct maf/wer kills

instead of lynch we vote on someone to be copped and seered. Flaw I see is that we could run up a PR, and am currently trying to work out whether the risk of that is worth it (considering this is a risk anyway).

I'd really prefer it if we didn't break the game. Mainly because I'd rather play it normally, and also because I know how stressful it can be as a mod.

^Agreed, minus the mod part.

I'm also a little wary now of people attempting to "break the game" due to it going ridiculously badly in a previous game of mine (can't really say more then that as it's ongoing.)

I am currently stressed
.

I will not be angry about this prospect arising since I had no rule about it in my OP. In the future, however, I will include a rule about not breaking game setups when I am Modding. Mainly to preserve the normal style of play I like to participate in as a player, but also because it does make things easier/more enjoyable for everybody. I see "breaking the game" as a means to an end: "breaking the game" is just a way to circumvent "normal" MafiaScum play and still win, since whichever faction adapts better to the game being broken will usually win. (Normally, of course, this weighs heavily in advantage of the Town.) This has nothing to do with analysis of play (e.g. "scumhunting") or any of the other "normal" aspects of the game, thus I don't appreciate this tactic being used in play here.

Consider this a friendly warning, with all due respect, that any further blatant attempts to break the setup of this game will result in being immediately Melted (Modkilled). I apologize if this ruins this game for any of you; you are welcome to PM me and request replacement if this is the case. No hard feelings will be held against any who choose to do this. Please return to normal gameplay now...
thank you...

Breaking games leads to better development of games, and encourages change and fixes balance issues. Its also one of the main interests I had in joining this game.

Ill play anyway, but not happy Jan. It's like asking someone to limit the strength of their play and thus impedes on the gamestate.

Barring the fact that your opinion is based on a differing interpretation of MafiaScum policy and tactics, I guess I do see your viewpoint. If you would like to assess the level of approval you have for "breaking the setup" in this game, you are free to do so and there will be no Mod action taken against you. I would, however, ask that you not push the prospect if it becomes unpopular, and I would like this issue to be resolved soon. (As in, before Night 1.) If, at that point, there is sufficient support for breaking the setup of the game, so be it. If it is not popular when Day 1 ends, please disregard that means to an end for the duration of the game.

I would like to stop talking now, as I feel I am imposing too much of my opinions on this game. Please move forward with this compromise in mind.
You know...do RV's or RQ's or something.

No it's not, breaking a game is more like trying to find a way to do the best with as little effort as possible. It's not a test of your abilities at all.

I was actually going to say, "eh, let's not break it anyway," before the modpost, because I'd rather lynch. I'm not really happy with it being taken away anyway-- hypocopping is still a good bet (in pretty much any open-cop game), but let's not direct PRs. Okay?

Discuss your theories at the end of the game if you really have to, but please don't try to break it while we're playing.

There is no real definition of breaking anyway. So no strategy that utilizes the setup? Because that would take hypoclaiming out of the equation too.

Not sure I want to play a game where Im not free to do my upmost to win for town. If everyone decides to just go with hypoclaiming, im fine with that, seeing as 'I' still did my best... But I dont like the idea of the mod telling is we cant hypo claim or direct targets etc if everyone wants to do it.

what I guess I am asking is: maestro what constitutes 'breaking'? What can we and cant we do?
