I'm interested but have zero ability for anything this week since I will be in a jury trial.

That being said, any Monday through Thursday night is USUALLY good for me. Just not this week.

So I decided I was going to win a diplo with Carthage. Then France forward settled me, and I took them out, the Songhei kept converting me to their religion (every single fucking turn) so I took them out. Crossed to the second continent, to find Denmark having taken over Babylon's capital and was about to wipe out America, but the worst thing, he had taken over Singapore, the missing 12th city state. So I took Babylons capital, to get a foothold, ploughed through Washington to get to Singapore, then took Copenhagen out as punishment for stealing one of my city states. Domination win about 10 turns away from my diplo win... I may have had anger issues this game.

I have realised though that if I want this game to be fun I need to turn up the difficulty (or play with real players), because my gold very quickly kept me afloat with everything I needed and even though I went Liberty into Commerce in pursuit of the Diplo win, I didn't feel I was screwed by my choice.

Also I have a modpack that works on multiplayer, which patches things such as:

The AI (They are significantly smarter thanks to the guys from CivFanatics)
The AI now actually sends you deals in multiplayer, and due to enhanced AI they can literally end up bribing you to war on opponents. They do this via pop-up boxes like the "You have a trade deal" notifcation balls to prevent diplomacy holding the game up.
You can capture great people.
You can capture other people's tiles in war (can be disabled, lots of fun with fluid borders though).
Afghanistan, Iceland and Mexico added.
uh
I think that's about everything. Aircraft animations are also 2x faster.

Oh and an entire new era, the enlightenment era. A bunch of friends and I have been play-testing the heck out of this, and we've reached the point it's really stable. Odd crash every now and then but that happens in regular civ too. If we want to do this but also want to feel like civ V has a new free major DLC, I can provide everyone a dropbox link.

So, I'm playing Civ6 for the first time after being a long time Civ4 veteran. I chose Pangaea and added an extra civ to increase map aggression.

I chose China and ended up immediately popping a Eureka moment for having met another Civ at game start. I was confused, and saw I met Pericles.

Spoiler: Big Daddy China

Of course, I was well versed in anti-computer tactics from Civ4, like performing worker steals. I immediately declared war on Pericles and captured his settler.

I began searching for my second city site at 3960BC, and despite choosing Pangaea, when I hit the coast I gained another Eureka moment.

It's 3840BC. Rate my Empire.

Spoiler: I probably should have chosen Immortal

I think I'll wait until Civ5 is on sale after this game. This is hilariously bad game design. I still enjoy Civ4, even though that game is ancient. If I wanted something more modern I would play EU4.

The only mod I use is the no quitters mod, which is moreso a balancing mod.

Also yeah, let's figure out when we're doing this, because Saturday/Friday is best for me as well.

It was a joke, because the last time Alisae and I played, Alisae and I warred for the vast majority of the game over a border dispute.

I'm not going to dissuade you from buying Civ5, it's p great

Civ6 is a worthy entry to the franchise though? I mean your first complaint there is valid, I think that's some sort of a bug that pops up every so often, possibly made worse by you adding an additional civ to the game and throwing things a bit off kilter. So far as I know the game is supposed to have you spawn in a minimum number of tiles away from each other.

As for the eureka for discovering another continent, if I'm not mistaken your "pangea" is divided into continents despite being one contiguous land mass; think eurasia. That or discovering ocean makes that eureka pop because *something* has to.

Man idk Civ6 improved on a lot of things imo, districts are great, the first expansion is coming out in ~2 weeks, just hold on to your butts

Also I'm sure I've said this a million times now but I would love to have either a "Game of the month" type thing where someone makes up a Turn 0 save file with XYZ settings and we all play it and discuss how it goes, or some sort of Hot Seat save that we pass back and forth; but I foresee no way for everyone to be available to play a game all together at the same time and for hours on end, y'all haven't played a game in months now
