Oh. "Standard Bioware Plot" is "Go to three places, solve their plots that may or may not be related to the actual storyline to get the McGuffins, then go to the final area, and then also probably a surprise mission after you've done two things." Also includes "The levelup system breaks after level 10" and "We ran out of time for the ending". On the plus side, you get good characters and good writing for putting up with it.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

Seems to work fine for me. There are apparently a lot of things that can happen to keep it from running, here is a list of quite a few issues. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1440616

If you want to try to stealth past everything, keep in mind that the bosses will fuck you over.

The Director's Cut? Ok. If you have that, you can actually focus less on combat if you like as they updated the boss fights somewhat. If you don't have the director's cut, you need to put a bit more of your development points into combat abilities, since the boss fights focus more on that and less on the stealth/exploration aspects of upgrading.

the not-actually-open-ended openendedness was really getting on my nerves, so I switched to Talos Principle

I have the day off tomorrow so we'll see what I end up doing then

Talos Principle is great. One of my favorite games I've played lately.

did not like HR. played about an hour and quit. My dad finished it. Watching him i don't particularly regret not playing it.

I didn't mind Talos Principle. Felt like it'd shown it's hand really early. In fact I think I mentioned that in this very thread.

Even without DX, you just invest in Typhoon and win boss fights(and cheat for the third one).

Contrary to the rest of you guys I actually quite enjoyed DX:HR, it was an amazing run right up until the end and I can forgive it for a really weak last mission / ending. Even on the base game you can auto kill two of the bosses by playing smart, you don't need any combat upgrades to kill another and there is only one really terrible fight (first boss fight locks you in room with him).

Great soundtrack as well.

I was a big fan of DXHR, just not the boss fights without the Director's Cut changes. It felt a little clunky at times, but the atmosphere, setting, and pretty solid story was still a lot of fun.

I'm not saying DXHR was bad, I'm just saying that make sure you are prepared for bossfights. The first few levels, which didn't have bossfights, were great, I just got fucked when I went up against a boss and my only lethal weapon was a pistol because I didn't realize that I would ever need to kill anything. I'll go back to it at some point.

So, I finally managed to get FFXIII have started playing it. So far, everything appears to be corridors, but I'm sure that'll go away after the tutorial is over.

DXHR was sweet and one of the few games in recent years I actually thought was worth $60. I wish there was a new game in the style of Deus Ex/VtMB/Alpha Protocol, those games are just so fun.

Not sure if you're joking or serious but nope, a good 85% of the game is corridors.

They're very pretty corridors, though.
