Eipstream

Colonies of a reddish-brown plankton that travel through the Amstaadian waters. Although they're harmless to humans, they can be poisonous if ingested to some fish.

Kinh Bear

Large, black bear. Amstaad's bears have long, retractable claws which they use to spear fish and small animals. They generally won't attack humans unless cornered. The Briaf hold Kinh Bears with some reverence.

Aushtak Butterlies,

These large majestic butterflies often have a wide array of colors on their wings, often given as gifts to potential mates by Kinh Bears.

Lethigies

These annoyingly small, black bugs are ferocious in nature. Usually people and animals can't tell, though, because the worst that they do is be bothersome when buzzing around their heads, and their venom emits a little bit of "sleeping juice" that causes the bitee to get a little bit tired.

Kathari Herb

A plant use for medicinal purposes with a bitter taste. Can be brewed to make potions, or smoked and inhaled.

Avarex

Imagine goldfish with fangs. These rainbowish see-through fish travel in packs of 200-500. They range from 2 to 3 inches long each. They are very much carniverous and they are very much dangerous to humans, although they swim fairly slowly (they could plausibly be outrun by an average-speed character) and they only live in freshwater that's at least 10 feet deep.

Goats

White, four-legged ruminants. Cute. Tasty. Produce milk, which is also tasty.

The Avaslihna Tree, incredibly rare, found only where nothing could possibly grow, its pollen induces a lovesick feeling in those who inhale it that causes them to fall deeply in love with the first person they see. Effects last for about 1 to 2 weeks depending on how much pollen is inhaled.

Rainbrush

Scraggly, low plant that grows in the summer. The roots of this plant extend aboveground and are very adept at absorbing vitals, especially water. After rain, children will go find rainbrush and pick these roots - they turn from fibrous to quite bulbous, and are sweet tasting.

Tintrin

Smallish fireflies commonly found in the wilderness. Named after their mating call, which sounds like a bell going "Tin Trin Trin Trin Trin". Sometimes captured and used for entertainment in play houses.

Terrapods

To the untrained eye, they appear to be nothing more than exceptionally spherical rocks the size of your fist. However, these insects have small grey eyes that function quite poorly, as well as ten long, thin, and strong legs sprouting in a perfect circle from the bottom of the creature (think: 10-legged mosquito with a spherical top). They can be found in hilly areas, and move about using short bursts of speed from their legs, or by folding up and rolling for downhill paths.

If the hard outer shell is cracked, these creatures are extremely nutritional, although they taste something like old eggs.

That was the 75th choice. Only 5 rounds of this to go. :)

Arana

Medium-size deciduous bush with characteristic long, sapphire-coloured leaves. These are cultivated for the arana fruit, which are iridescent red and grow from similar-colour flowers. The fruit itself is quite inedible, but the nut inside is delicious -- a subtle blend of sweetness and bitterness that is eaten raw, used in dishes, or pounded into a paste for use as a condiment.

Summer Snow - white clover (in the seven-leafed variety for extra-special luck!) that grows like wildfire in the summertime, mainly located south of the docks.

Finch

Bird. Eats seeds and nuts. Is eaten by various carnivores. Not particularly big (most can be held in two hands).

(Not inspired, but we have relatively few smallish birds).

Strangleweed

An aquatic, kelp-like plant that grows only in deep saltwater, this is only distinguishable from other plants of its type by its slight red tinge. When touched, it instantly contracts and folds around the point of disturbance until the creature has suffocated. Small tubes protruding from the face of the plant then enter the creature and rapidly suck the nutrients out for about 5 minutes, at which point the creature is released.

People who have been poisoned can subject themselves to Strangleweed attack as a primitive form of antedote, provided they can prevent themselves from drowning.

Strangleweeds cannot realistically pull a standing human underwater, but they can make things very difficult for an average swimmer and they can easily drown a weak one.

Scuttlers

Small black insects that live underground in swarms. They don't kill, but are attracted by the smell of decay. Swarms of scuttlers pull dead bodies underground, and process them into nutrients for plants. Battlefields tend to become very green soon after battles have finished in areas where scuttlers are endemic. The existence of scuttlers also heavily influences burial practices.

Oh, I know...

Spindlewrens

Incredibly long-legged cranes believed to be bearers of good fortune, coming in vibrant red or white plume. They spend 85-90% of their day in the water, and though often elegant and sedative, they have been known to cause quite the uproar near the fish market. It is a sign of wealth and honor to keep a spindlewren in one's wading pool.

Small, oily fish. Once caught, they may be salted and stored for as long term provisions. Certain varieties are also processed for their oil, which when refined can be used in lamps.

Preffa

A small, bright blue flower that grows in hilly areas. Its pollen tastes like a spicy kind of saffron (redundancy acknowledged), and is used as a flavoring for foods. A bit on the expensive side, but some countrymen make their living by picking, grinding, and selling these flowers.

Leviathans,

Large graceful intelligent whales known to grow as big as 400 meters in length, often hunted for their valuable oil, known to be gentle at times, but can be quite vicious when being hunted. Commercial whaling has the highest insurance premiums as almost 60% of whaling ships never make it back from their battles with these giants of the sea.
