Reveal after top 8 finish. If I am playing, say, No-stick/chant, and I know my opponent is playing TEPS, I will play much differently than if I know my opponent is playing 8 cloudscape.dec or BDW.
Lag actually does exist in real life. For proof, look no further than Jesus: When he died, it took him three *days* to respawn.

What is the AIM chat for Scum? I was there once but I don't know how. And would it be possible for me to replace annorax or is that a no go?

It's scumchat. I usually get there by having AIM (well, Trillian) open, then clicking the link at the bottom of the front page of the forum.

I don't believe this is the sort of thing you can replace into, unfortunately. Even if you were to get Annorax's deck off Cephrir, you wouldn't be playing it the same way he would. There's just too much variability involved for it to be fair to the other players.

So far, 3-1 against reveal before top 8.

Excatly.
I think part of being a great MTG player is being able to A) Figure out the opponent's deck rather quickly, and B) Play neutrally enough to not screw yourself over until you figure out the deck.

I'm actually leaning towards no reveal now for an unmentioned reason...

I will point out that for important tournaments, top 8 decks normally
are
revealed before the games take place. That said, the internet presents certain issues that don't exist at such an event. If decklists were revealed, it would allow players to keep this thread open during their game, and essentially count cards off the decklist. Nobody would even have to go on memory. That strikes me as being against the spirit of things.

That's not a final decision, as I still want to hear from people. But that's my thought process right now.

This s true, but there's a reason why - it stops someone who has a team of ten friends scouting out everyone's decks and writing down exactly what they're playing having an unfair advantage against those who don't. This way everyone knows what's in each other top 8 player's decks, and so it's fairer.

Back when scouting wasn't allowed, this rule didn't exist.

Apparently SC has been banned. Im interested in how this will affect the tourney, and more importantly, whether it allows me a chance to get into the finals.

Last Word.

Further, PWS should get the spot seeing as how I am not the greatest MtG player in the world, but I am a tribute.

See, we'll just wait for the Last Word to resolve, then counter the original spell again. Set and match.

Getting away from the geekiness for a second, most people have heard about what happened with StallingChamp by now (and for those who haven't, there's a bumped thread in General Discussion for your perusal). As mentioned in that thread, he has put in an appeal of his banning, and I have agreed to wait until a final response is issued before making any official statements. (Which will not hold us up, as it should come in before the rest of the games finish.)

If StallingChamp is reinstated, then the placements will remain as is. I do not believe that he has cheated on MWS, or otherwise compromised the integrity of the tournament.

I offered him the option of continuing on if he were to remain banned by having people contact him through AIM, pending agreement by the other players. He has expressed a desire not to proceed with this option. IF he remains banned, his spot will therefore go to Elias. (Well, technically creampuffeater would become first in the group and Elias would be second.)

I'll let everyone know when things become official.
