Cerulean Villa (Day 3)

On July 29, thirteen letters were delivered to thirteen different addresses. These letters did not come through the post, but from a man in a black limousine. The letters had no return addresses, but each recipient knew who had sent the wax-sealed package. Inside the envelope was the following letter:

Also enclosed was an RSVP card, along with a single sapphire.

The recipients took their time filling out the RSVP card, as their host had not made it easy to confirm their attendance. However, each was able to figure out his puzzle.

One week later, a limousine arrived to pick each of them up and drive them to the Cerulean Villa. Over the next 12 days, one was seen departing the Villa each day, with varying looks of disappointment on their faces.

This is the story of those twelve days.

The Cerulean Villa

House Rules

0)
Wheaton's Law: Don't be a dick
1)
Play the game well, play to win, and play fair. If you find that any of these conflict, use your best judgement.
2)
You are permitted to communicate privately with players about the game only when I permit it. You are permitted to communicate in-thread at any time, unless it is locked. Non-players should not communicate with players about the game, publicly or privately.
3)
I reserve the right to discipline players or change rules as I see fit.
4)
If you think I have made a mistake, I haven't, reality is just broken. Please let me know so I can contact the proper authorities.

5)
Each game day will consist of two games: a Free for All and a Death Match. There may be other activities if I issue them.
6)
All players will compete in the Free for All game every day. The winner of each Free for All will earn Immunity for themselves and one other player of their choice. Players may also be able to earn Sapphires for their performance in the Free for All. The loser of the Free for All will be the first Death Match participant, and will choose their opponent from those who are not immune.
7)
The Death Match is a competition between at least two players. The loser of the Death Match will be eliminated and will surrender their Sapphires to the winner.
8)
Once two players are left, they will compete in a final best of three match to determine the winner.
9)
Each player will have a public bank of Sapphires. Sapphires may be earned based on performance in games, as well as through other means. Sapphires can be used to purchase various advantages in games. When eliminated in a Death Match, the loser surrenders all remaining Sapphires to the winner. Sapphires may be exchanged between players by all involved players PMing me.
10)
Should there be a tie for the winner of a Free for All, all tied players will be considered winners and will not give Immunity to anybody else. Should there be a tie for the loser of a Free for All, the winner(s) will choose the first Death Match participant. Other situations will be dealt with as the potential arises.

RSVP

In order to grab one of the first spots, PM me the solution to the following riddle.

Image

The first 13 to do so will gain entry to the villa. If more than 24 hours pass with no new entries, applications will be opened to those who cannot solve a riddle. Google and other outside resources are forbidden.

The guests arrived at the villa one by one. As each one entered, they took a moment to size up their competition before joining them at the table. Which of them would fall first, and who would have the skills to take them all the way?

The thirteen guests, in no particular order, are:

"Friends, thank you all so much for coming. I'm sure we'll all have a wonderful time here in my lovely villa. I'll post the first game tomorrow night at 5pm Eastern. Until then, please feel free to privately and publicly communicate with each other about whatever you see fit. If you have friends who would like to follow along behind the scenes, please tell them to PM me so I can get them access to a very special backstage room."

Hi, I'm most easily contacted by PM or by Site Chat.

To be honest, I'm mostly here for the games, so don't expect me to come out and talk to anyone myself for the first half of the game. That being said, I'm still open with working out deals if anyone is interested.

Hey everyone, My skype is oldehullick but this site's PM system wouldn't be a bad way of contacting me. I check this site often since I don't have much of a life right now.

So you're saying all of the effort into making the avatar despite the fact that I don't have Photoshop was all in vain? I'm going to go cry in a corner now.

This also means that you're honor-bound to not pull me into a Death Match.

I appreciate your artistic talent, KA.
I
noticed.

Skype is Klick, I never use AIM. I'm also just fine with PMing. Feel free to knock on my door if you need me for something; otherwise, I'm probably just going to sit back and watch.

Even if I never saw the connection, I still thought it was a really cool avatar. One of the best on this forum.

Flattery, shmatter. It's nothing but the truth.

It occurs to me that we're past the appointed time. I hope Xalxe gets here soon - I can't wait!
