GOTY doesn't get awarded, it's more of a "Hall of Fame" thing, because it's not specifically the mod, or the players, or any one thing that makes it great.

"Favorite Game" was never the official category title... the category was "Most Enjoyable Game".

The issue with the award was multilayered and was laid out clearly and concisely earlier in 2014 when we announced the Scummies changes, but basically... the criteria for "Most Enjoyable Game" were too hard for judges to accurately judge, and it felt weird to give all the players and the mod awards for something that basically came down to a popularity contest. It's much easier to judge what should be "Game of the Year" based on a bunch of criteria, though we don't feel any one person or group is responsible for making it Game of the Year, so no actual "award" is given out.

Why not make a banner to put at the top of the first post of the Game of the Year winner? For example, Organic Chemistry Mafia would have "Game of the Year: 2014" at the top. This way, future readers can recognize the achievement from the get-go, and it may make these games go to reads. I also think that a banner at the top of a game is more befitting the award than a banner for those who partook in the game.
