For longer fingers, how would you maintain structural integrity? Would each finger also be as wide as an arm? Would the hands and arms then be proportionally larger? Would the heart become stronger and larger, to compensate for the additional distance the blood would need to be pumped to? Would the vascular system become larger, to deal with the increased blood pressure? Would the rest of the body become larger to contain the new vessels, as well as support the larger torso that a larger heart would require? Actually, this would cause new problems, because volume increases faster than area, so you'd need a much wider body.
So, basically, would that choice make one tall, yet quite stout? Or would some part of the body just immediately break off?
