doc knowledge
I'm pondering some moderation issues. What knowledge is usually given out from doc actions to the various people involved?
Do you tell the night killer why they were stopped?
Do you tell the victim they were saved?
Do you tell the doc what type of killer (sk, maf) they stopped?
It seems to me you could make the role quite different depending on how much you tell, so I'd like to hear people's experiences and preferences.gim sumun.bi shà-thir-ma u ba-rì- Stewie

It's my new sig!Stewie wrote:It's all better with a little bit of intrigue.
Traditionally, going back to real life games, you tell nothing because it is quite difficult to send PMs to people sitting in the same room as you. Although, with one doc, one cop and some Mafia, it was pretty obvious what happened when no one died last night. Same conclusions are usually drawn in simple Mafia games, although the intrduction of vests and role-blockers changes that a little.
I give no info, although sometimes I will contact the killer to let them know that I received their choice, but they got foiled somehow.- PolarBoy

That's for a meta-game reason though. You don't want a player to think you imply ignored their choice. One of the worst things that can happen in a mafia game is when everything is actually running perfectly but someone thinks the mod has dropped the ball. Though that's no excuse for the number of questions that get asked of the mod in-thread.cuban smoker wrote:I give no info, although sometimes I will contact the killer to let them know that I received their choice, but they got foiled somehow.MUNSCM Delegate for the United Kingdom

Well, coming from a person who played a doc...I have been in a lucky situation where the mod told me who I protected, not from whom, which was great when it came to role claiming time, because then it was easier for me to determine who the innocents were. I don't think that it is that bad of a thing because the doc hardly actually protects someone, especially in large games, but that is just my experience.- PolarBoy

Easier does not necessarily equal better; we do want this game to be challenging, no? Anyway I think it's better to let people wonder what really happened. If you don't know then you can imagine all sorts of things. It creates some intrigue in situations where there may be a second doc or a role-blocker.MUNSCM Delegate for the United Kingdom

Yes. I am working on a paper that should change the game significantly. People are WAY too eager to tell everyone their role. This will indicate the biggest offenders (tactics used, not people who use them). I'll publish it after my games I'm in are complete.we do want this game to be challenging, no?

Beware the spook! InNormal? MafiaI created a role that chosse every night who to protect. That person was NOT protected but were told that they survived an attack, as well as the spook being told they protected their target."Hmm, wow..
