I decided to attempt to attack a gym that had pokemon 600 CP above mine. It didn't end well.

these are the pokemon that i've seen no trace of yet in my games - not in gyms, not in nearby, nothing
some of these i'm sure are available
somewhere
i'll eventually get to on my own (grimer, ponyta) while others are either more ambiguous (eg hitmonchan, porygon kanghaskhan) or sure unavailable (legendaries)
either way im gonna try to get 140 of the kanto dex done before trading comes out
I popped my first lucky egg today in a pretty populated area with 4 adjacent pokestops, 2-3 of which were lured. I evolved something like 10 pidgeys, 5 rattatas, and one each of a few species which also gave me double xp on a few new pokedex entries (golbat, metapod, kakuna). I was literally either catching or evolving for the entire lucky egg duration (I got lucky and the app didn't crash at all during it!)
Went from barely level 12 to barely level 15. Then spent the next hour and a half getting halfway to 16.
I don't know if this game is really going to hold my interest for very long. I'd like to do more, but there just aren't enough pokestops or gyms in areas I'm at frequently. I'm still only lvl 4 because there's not enough for me to do.
I'm golfing this afternoon - what do I have to do to keep the game active so I can log some miles, catch some pokemons, and maybe hatch a couple eggs? If I turn my screen timeout off in my phone settings is that enough or do I have to like tap the game or interact with it every so often to keep connected? And if I'm riding in a golf cart, is that slow enough to still log distance?
yeah. this game was super boring when I was in my parent's suburban house in 98 degree Dallas Texas. It's kind of fun/interesting in 70 degree silicon valley with tons of stops and people and lures around.
Went to the park today, thinking that'd be a good place to look for pokemon. Nearby was literally empty across the entire park.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.
No time now, but I think next time I pick a destination for pokemon hunting, I'll choose the mall.

I haven't spent much time on this so far, but I'm going to be incorporating it into my daily walks moving forward. Today I found a Krabby and a super high-level Pidgeot.

From what I understand you can co-operate with someone from your team in a gym battle by fighting at the same time. Supposedly the enemy pokes take damage in real-time. Haven't had a chance to try this out as a lot of the locals are either Mystic or Insight, and I'm Valor.
I don't think this is true... we've attacked a few enemy gyms together and once one person enters battle, it locks anyone else out of the gym until the battle is complete. There isn't any option I've seen for other trainers to join in either before or during.
I take this back, I was 100% wrong. You totally can attack a gym simultaneously with someone else on the same team. We did it this morning and it's awesome!
You don't have to click anything special, just enter the gym at the same time or at least make sure that the second person is in before the first battle ends. A good way to take over stronger gyms.
there's really no point in taking gyms at any time but the dead of night or early morning
however i think today might be the first time i control a gym for a whole 24 hours
I've seen Onix & Hitmonchan on my nearby list, I have a Ponyta and a gym near me has a kanghaskstan.
If I can stay connected today I'm planning on getting myself a lot more Pokémon by taking the train to the city.
