General Rules
  1. All site-wide rules apply. In particular,
no discussion of ongoing games is allowed
, and you may not discuss this game outside this thread or any PTs about this game you have access to.
  2. All standard rules of Mafia apply. This means
    1. Do not quote your Role PM or any other PMs from the Mod, real or fabricated.
    2. Play to your win condition.
    3. Do not edit or delete your post, even if you have the ability to do so.
    4. Do not use encrypted text, small text, bright-coloured text, or otherwise make it hard to see what you are writing.
    5. Do not use provable randomness. This means no dice tags.
  3. The mod color is
    blue (#0000FF)
    . Do not use it.
  4. Once your death scene is posted, you may not post, except for a single contentless ‘bah' post.
  5. Due to the nature of Mafia, conflicts are expected, but if I deem an argument too heated up I will intervene.
  6. No set of rules can be complete. If you think something is wrong, please don't do it. Breaking the spirit of rules is also disallowed. Do not encourage others to break the rules either.
  7. Breaching of rules will usually result in a warning initially, but depending on severity, may result in a force-replacement or modkill.
  8. During the course of the game I may add extra rules if necessary. These rule changes will be announced publicly.

Game-specific Rules
  1. Day start, Days will last 7 days, Nights will last 48 hours.
  2. There is no factional nightkill (hence “nightless”), but there will be a Night phase for Mafia discussion and night action submission.
  3. There will also be a 24 hour “dawn” period between the previous Night and the next Day.
  4. The Mafia have daytalk.
  5. Prods will be issued if you do not post for 48 hours.
  6. If you get three or more prods, or fail to respond to a prod by posting in thread within 24 hours, I will begin seeking for a replacement. This is unaffected by V/LAs.
  7. If a replacement happens at Night, deadline is paused until a replacement is found.
  8. To vote, either use vote tags (VOTE: BulletNLynchproof), or bold tags (
    Vote: BulletNLynchproof
). Abbreviations or misspellings will be accepted as long as it is clear who you are voting for.
  9. Unvote with UNVOTE: BulletNLynchproof or
    Unvote: BulletNLynchproof
(the player name is optional in this case)
  10. Votes to No Lynch are not allowed.
  11. By request, you may PM me to create for you a PT with you only. This is used to pen down your personal thoughts about the game, or to organise your thoughts.
  12. You may not copy and paste directly from this PT into the main thread, except for posts made in the PT specifically for this purpose. This means that you may organise cases or reads in your PT to copy them into the main thread, but you may not quote parts of your PT into the main thread to confirm you have been thinking like a townie. If in doubt, please ask me.
  13. These PTs are on a per-player basis, not a per-slot basis. If a player gets replaced, the replacement will not have access to his predecessor’s PT, and instead will have to create his own PT. However, hydras will share one PT together.
  14. Before postgame, please PM or otherwise contact if you want your PT to be released or not.

Setup-specific Rules
  1. During pregame and on every Night, the Mafia will choose any player (including themselves) to turn into a gladiator.
  2. On Day 1, the gladiator must choose his target within 72 hours of the game starting.
  3. On each night after Day 1, there will be a 24-hour “dawn” phase for the gladiator to choose his target.
  4. On every Day, the gladiator and their target are the only people who may be voted for during the Day, and they themselves cannot vote.
  5. On Day 1, before the gladiator has chosen their target, any votes on anyone will be ignored.
  6. A strict majority (more than half) of voting players is required to achieve a lynch. For example, if 7 players are alive, 5 people will be voting, so 3 votes are needed to achieve a lynch.
  7. Votes to no lynch are not allowed. However, if a lynch is not achieved before deadline, a no lynch would occur, and the Mafia will get a factional kill on the next night, which may be used on any town player.
  8. If the gladiator fails to choose a target before the stipulated deadline, they will be lynched and game will immediately proceed to night phase.
  9. It is acceptable to submit your gladiator target in advance during the Night or even before if you happen to become the gladiator. In this case, Dawn will be skipped.

These are the role PMs:
TownWelcome to Micro 629, Player, you are
Town
.

Abilities:
During the day, you may vote for either the gladiator or their target (unless you are one of them) to get that player lynched.
If you have been chosen to be the gladiator, you must choose your target within 72 hours (on Day 1) or within the 24-hour Dawn phase (after Day 1).

Wincon:
You win when all the Mafia members are dead and there is at least one pro-town player alive.

The game thread is here.

Please confirm by replying to this role PM with your alignment.

MafiaWelcome to Micro 629, Player, you are
Mafia
with Player.

Abilities:
During the day, you may vote for either the gladiator or their target (unless you are one of them) to get that player lynched.

So the game is afoot ...

MapWolf - give us your best guess as to why you were chosen for the Day 1 honor of Gladiator.

Pretty much Geriatric game restricted at this point ... unless there are players I REALLY want to play with.

Assuming no alts/other sites i don't know about:
Mapwolf hasn't played a game with any of us before (based on completed games).
Mapwolf is the second least experienced player in the game.
Waiting until mapwolf posts before any other comments on him.

Damn it Hopkirk the whole point was to get Mapwolf's un-adulterated take ...

Way to screw that up.

Mapwolf already knows that information. How could it affect his responses.

That's not the point. Of course he knew this. But how he would have chosen to respond without this information already presented might have given an insight into his alignment. But it required no-one priming the pump as they say.

Might not amounted to anything. But might have. No way to tell now.

How he responds to me saying that would also be relevant. Pointing it out is very similar to what you're complaining about now.

I would've picked randomly if i was mafia. That is my best guess since they picked it so fast. Another possibility is that they picked me because i haven't gotten as many completed games, so i would be an easy early lynch.

I'm in favor of a pseudo-vote, I can't think of any other way to get useful discussion going.

For some reason i thought this thread was younger than it was. What i meant was that they didn't need much more than 48 hours, but obviously 48 hours is more than enough time for scum to decide who gets the bomb.

Or faked.
Scum have a lot more to gain by picking themselves. They get control on the second person (finding a scummy looking town really isn't that hard) and people are less likely to vote the first person selected because you know, "scum won't pick themselves".
However, let the buddying commence!

You are right though. No one should be assumed to be town simply because mafia picked them as gladiator for that reason. We should look at the actual posts in this game rather than who mafia chooses as gladiator.

That's fine, I can check your games when I'm at a PC if needed.
Although this won't be an indication on why you have the gladiator day 1.
You said that you would have selected random as scum. Howcome?

That way the nomination would essentially gives no information regarding alignment. Now all that is mostly side thoughts about the games. If i was scum i would obviously discuss it further.
