We must devise a poll to determine Nancy's fate!

I don't care one way or the other about lolbalance as a title, but for the love of god can it not be rainbow text if it goes through.

Also, my favorite titles are:
Thirteenthly
Did his job
It's pronounced "xalxe"
Friends Forever! <3
Princeton's Pride
mafi ascum
die suck die
GD is my wing/Best Man

I think they all share something in common, which is they are born from either one single memorable moment, which became a site meme on its own, which had a lot of staying power. That is to say, its not like "x thing happened" and then someone nominated it for a title, but rather something happened and it became a part of that users persona so that when it got nominated the response was "oh, thats perfect" not "is this even going to be a thing in 6 months?" OR it has been a consistent part of the users persona for a long time that it became part of what defined them. Kanye talks in broken words. PJ used to go on 1000 word rants in game. People always argued about how to pronounce xalxe.

The only notable exception to this on the list of titles I really like is friends forever, which is based on a particularly funny moment in a game and then immediately became a title because it was so damn funny.

I think a lot of newer titles suffer from the fact that the site is a lot larger than it used to be, and a lot older. It's harder for something to be unique and memorable, and even if it is the larger user base means that many people may still not be genuinely familiar. Many of the older titles if you look at them are really innocuous stuff that happens all the time. But when the site is only 200 people, you can be the "self vote day 1 guy" and end up with a title for it. Theres even an instance of a title for "hitting the eligible title threshold." Simply put, we complain about how all the recent titles suck, but if you look at a lot of the old titles (especially the super old titles) they also suck. We have a long history of shitty titles on this site. The difference is that we don't have low hanging fruit anymore.

All this is to say that I don't feel a particular pull to the alisae nom, but also I think this idea that titles need to be super awesome is revisionist to begin with, and it becomes more difficult to come up with "good" titles than it used to be with each title we give. So sure, let them have it. Just not with rainbow text.

I mean for fucks sakes panzer, your original title was "pink kitty tank" or some shit like that because you had a kitten avatar for a while. Get off your elitism bruh.

Btw, unrelated to current discussion and probably unpopular opinion but throwing it out as an idea--in a vein
similar
to the April Fool's Day stunt, would it be possible to experiment a little more with titles?

By which, I mean: we already have the existing policy wherein a user who ends up not liking their current title can always request for it to be removed and it will be removed.

So something which could be worth experimenting on is slightly looser standards on titles, in which we can allow some titles that might otherwise not go through...and then, revisit them down the line. If the title ends up being a flunk down the line (say, three months give or take), something not actually desired, then as per the already-existing policy the title can simply be removed.

This would be similar to Psyche's existing policy of tabling divisive titles for a month, "We can look back at it in a month; if the title still has power, we can nominate it then". Only this would be instead of not giving it and revisiting the possibility of giving it down the line, giving it and visiting the possibility of removing it down the line.

This would be a bit of a longer-term experiment though, in that it'd take at least two or three cycles (that being, ~6-9 months) to see if the idea had merit.

Something like this might be worth trying out at some stage tho.

Yeah it's gone for a reason. And people legit tell me I should bring both the avatar and the title back all the time.

And Idk what's wrong with telling someone, "hey, you just got rid of a title you got like months ago that was a crappy joke you were running into the ground l, so let's not give you another title for the same reason that you're gonna give back in 6 months"

I had the pink kitten avatar for like 4 years. And I had the title for like 5-6 years. So if you want a bad title, commit to it for years than I'll consider being like "OK this guy needs a different bad title"

I vote we give alisae 'anti-bully ranger' simply because panzer dislikes it

elitism is great but irony is better

Don't worry ani-- the club of "people forgotten by both KK and Panzer" also seems to include zoraster, so you're in good company.

I mean sure, if you ignore completely the several paragraph response I made to that point in the post directly above the one you responded to.

But really my biggest dog in this fight is just that no matter what happens no one gets a rainbow title. Because that would make me have to ignore them and I dont really want to ignore alisae.

EYE BLEEDING

by Thestatusquo
It's not rainbow specifically, its that the colors on the black background will naturally draw my eye and make the site harder to read.

It's the same reason I'm not a fan of gif avatars and colored text in signatures.

Although the many alternative colors of the rainbow ARE the most aggressive form of this, I would also be advocating for not having a title that is, say, green on black.

I think the rainbow text is actually the most Alisa part of the nom.
