Replacement Queue
This thread serves to facilitate
replacement requests
Thank you to game moderators for volunteering to run games, as well as to replacements for offering to replace into slots. Both groups are of great service to this community.
Please read these rules carefully. One set is for players looking to replace into games, and the other set is for moderators looking for replacements. Feel free to PM me with any questions, concerns, or feedback you might have.
There have been many past overseers of the Replacement Queue. They are: lilith2013, Morning Tweet, the worst, Ariel, Ser Arthur Dayne, Equinox, Zaicon, Quilford, Starbuck, HowardRoark, Kairyuu, JDodge, and mathcam.
Player Information
Replacing into a game:
To replace into a game, you should send a private message to the moderator of the game you wish to replace into. Players should not post in this thread except to egopost (see below), and should not send any messages in the Discord channel.
Player requirements:
Game moderators have the right to impose any restrictions, and may deny your offer of replacement at their discretion (within reason). Please ensure you will be able to handle the game you are replacing into. We would prefer if slots did not go through multiple replacements, but we recognize that replace-outs are not always foreseeable. Use your best judgement when offering to replace in.
Egoposts:
Members of the site are allowed to post an egopost into this thread. An egopost is a single post that allows a thread to show up in the poster's egosearch (accessible via the "View your posts" link at the top of every forum page). Your egopost should not mention any open replacement requests or ongoing games.
Using the Discord server:
We have an official Discord server! Click here to learn more. The #mafia-replacements channel in our official Discord server is kept up to date with replacements. If you are on Discord often, you might find it more convenient to be notified of new replacement requests through that channel. If you are a player, please do not post in the channel. The channel is not for chatting. Remember that you should message moderators privately to join games.
If you wish to be alerted about new replacement requests, you can sign up for the "Replacement Alerts" role in #channel-sign-ups. I will ping that role every time a new replacement request has been posted.

Updating your replacement request:
When your replacement request has been filled, it is your responsibility to edit the request. You should cross the request out with strike tags ([*s][*/s] or [*strike][*/strike], without the asterisks), and publicly identify the replacement player. If your request was on a previous page, you must simply quote your request and publicly identify the replacement player; you do not need to strike out the request.
Bumping your replacement request:
You may bump your request if you feel it is necessary, but please do so in moderation. You should note that I try to compile all open replacement requests at or near the start of each new page.
Avoiding out-of-game influence:
You should replace slots in the same order they were vacated in, regardless of what prompted the replacement. Players do not get to decide which slot they take. An example: if Player A replaces out, and then Player B replaces out, you need to replace Player A before you can replace Player B. Players should never be given information about a slot before replacing in.
Suitability of replacements:
You must ensure the player offering to replace in is capable of playing in your game. Players brand new to mafia might not fare well in games that have a large amount of pages, a large amount of players, or complex mechanical elements. Players that are in an excessive amount of games might not be ideal replacements, either.
Hydra accounts (accounts shared by two or more main account holders) are not allowed in Normal games. Hydras and alts are also not allowed to replace into your game if you indicated that they were not allowed during sign-ups.
Using the Discord server:
We have an official Discord server! Click here to learn more. If you are a member of the server, you may advertise your replacement requests in the #mafia-replacements channel. Please delete your message once the slot has been filled. If you do not share your request in the channel, I will post it there as soon as practical. Be sure to make a post in the Replacement Queue (this thread!) before sharing it in the Discord channel.
There should only be one Discord message per slot vacancy. If you have multiple players you are replacing in the same game, you may post one message per open slot. Do not bump your replacement requests in the channel; I will bump requests if they appear to have been overlooked. The channel is not for chatting.
