Because, seriously, the number of ideas i've stolen off him in the past year and found effective is mind-boggling.

Edit again: You're probably right LF. But I think kytai was pretty good, especially considering it was her first game (at least on this site).Last edited by Alduskkel on Thu Dec 18, 2008 9:17 am, edited 1 time in total.CLICK HERE FOR THE ALDUSKKEL APPRECIATION PAGE

I'm really not thinking I deserve that nomination miteymouse...
I did some really down right scummy plays, but getting an award is, as I said in the thread, a big deal. It means you were the best that year out of all MS players in that category.
Besides, I would rather not draw anymore attention to that game. I did some pretty unethical stuff, and I have the feeling some folks could blacklist me for it."He looks like the type of guy who can marathon write no matter his alignment without looking scummy at all." -Xtoxm-

LF, this is the nominations phase and there is lots of good play over the course of the year that deserves some recognition. Regardless of whether or not you think you are the best in a category, the fact is that someone thought you played an impressive game and should be considered for the award. Take from that what you will.Lindisfarne wrote:I did some really down right scummy plays, but getting an award is, as I said in the thread, a big deal. Thank you CarnCarn. I do appreciate that miteymouse was impressed enough to nominate, and maybe I'm just modest. Either way, just that someone nominated me is enough to make me feel like I did a good job"He looks like the type of guy who can marathon write no matter his alignment without looking scummy at all." -Xtoxm-

Nominate Illumina for best Serial Killerfor Serum & Steel
She had to kill two metal players to win, but the town eliminated one of them AND inadvertantly killed the person who could turn people into metal, leaving exactly three metal players left(one of which was her). On day 3, after the mafia godfather and Illumina were forced into claiming metal, she needed to ensure that the godfather was not turned to flesh. How'd she do this? Making sureshegot turned to flesh. She succeeds and then wins the game for the town also.

Second Illumina for Best Serial Killer
Oh yeah, that reminds me... after thinking it over...
Nominate Natirasha for Best Serial Killerfor Mind Screw Mafia II
His posts in the thread aren't particularly indicative of how he was able to win. On Day 2, all players gained the ability to daytalk - including forbiddanlight, the hidden player. Natirasha, who had already been forced to claim (and had claimed Neutral Survivor and somehow managed to get away with it) was able to convince forbiddanlight to trust him enough to tell him the names of her abilities... which allowed him to use his second kill to kill forbiddanlight while using his primary kill on another player, powering him up enough to hand him the game.
(shameless self-plugSide note: I'd really appreciate a second for the Haruhi Suzumiya Best Role nomination...)User out of ambit.

I would like to point out that although self-nominations and posturing for people to nominate/second your works are technically "allowed", they are still noted by the judges and it is apoint against you, and that is why things like "Self-Nom" is noted in the list of nominations when people try to get nominations, seconds, etc. in such a way.
Basically it indicates to the judges that people didn't think your play was Scummy-worthy until you went around and bugged people to vote for you."Logic? I call that flapdoodle."-

Which is why we just need to rig the judges.petroleumjelly wrote:I would like to point out that although self-nominations and posturing for people to nominate/second your works are technically "allowed", they are still noted by the judges and it is apoint against you, and that is why things like "Self-Nom" is noted in the list of nominations when people try to get nominations, seconds, etc. in such a way.

No, you didn't have anything to do with me using my daykill. I wasn't going to til I miscounted the living players and wanted to take it to 5. I had this great plan worked out but it revolved around 6 living players, not 7.
Also, don't forget how I was able to get forbiddanlight to use her daykill on someone, making me have essentially 3 kills on day 3.
AnywayThird Nat for best SK
I'd third Haruhi, but Lain was better ."Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

I disagree with PJ. Generally, I think there is such a volume of STUFF going on on this site that some truly good things do tend to not get noticed. As a judge I would review each nomination based on what it merits, and not look at all at the number of nominations/how it was nominated. If it should win, then it should win.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner-

And I don't see how you can claim "self-noms are frowned upon" while holding that judges shouldn't consider if it was a self-nom or not. If judges don't care, then there is no disincentive to whoring your own games. And if that is the case, this thread could fill up very quickly with people nominating themselves.Adel wrote:self noms are frowned upon. Gimbo [Mason] and skitzer [Townie] were both in the team that won Mini 608.
I'm sure you guys are proud of your win, but remember that a game ends almost every single here.
your town happened to have cop+doc+masons+vig vs. godfather+RB+goon vs SK which is totally balanced in the town's favor."Logic? I call that flapdoodle."-

I think things that should win should get nommed. If that takes a self nom, then so be it. If its not a worthwhile nom, it probably won't get seconded, and if it does get seconded than it deserves to be considered, probably. Also, a large portion of this site runs on the honor code, and with a few notable exceptions, people have stuck by that. I think those two things should stop the thread from getting cluttered by frivolous noms.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner
