Oh...

it isn't?

Don't mind me then, I'll just keep offering solutions to things that aren't problems...

Any possibility we could sticky a redirect to this at the top of all the mafia forums?
Lag actually does exist in real life. For proof, look no further than Jesus: When he died, it took him three *days* to respawn.

The Fonz wrote:We really need to clear up the whole 'best newbie thing' and decide properly whether it rewards a single performance by a newbie, or is like a 'rookie of the year.'

How about splitting into:

Best New Player
(for performance over the year)
Best Newbie Performance
('The Natural' Award or something) for a single performance in a game, with that game having to begin within three months of the player's joining.
I read this and i think Foz has the right idea. I think it solves things better then what i suggested. And it also appears to factor in some of the good stuff said by the other players about the topic.

Seconded

Nominate:
The Town of Open 58

Award:
Best Performance

Game:
Open 58 - Texas Showdown

This was a Vengeful Mafia set-up. Vengeful Mafia games are usually favored towards scum but the town was able to pull off the victory. There were good arguments in this game, excellent analysis, and trapping which lead to a strong town win. A fun read.

1) No self-noms

2) That town won because of lazy scum, and you blew up and quit midway through day 1 anyways

1) That's not a self-nom. I said I nominate the entire town not just myself. If you consider that to be a self-nom, then why did this (from Scummies 2007) not count as a self-nom: is this a self-nom??

2) I didn't quit midway. That was called a trap which worked quite successfully to basically solidify the win for the town. As for lazy scum or not, that's a matter of opinion.

If you keep reading, you'll notice that Simenon/YB were criticized for a self-nomination there also.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

I never thought I'd be doing this...

Nominate: Albert B. Rampage

Award: Best Performance - Town

Game: Mafia 72

He singlehandedly led the town to lynching scum on Day 1 and Day 2 and also forced the third scum into a doc claim before they killed him.

Nominate: Greasy Spot

Award: funniest claim

For this doozy:
Here's the deal. I will role claim. I am a Townie. This could help the town if you let it. The mafia now knows I am a townie and will be a target for a night kill if I am not lynched. I am telling you this so as a town you can use this lynch vote to vote a mafia member out. If it doesn't work and the town is not happy, you may vote me out in Day 2 and I won't try to stop you.
From Open 61, which was a mountainous game.
