For today's Void, we've crash landed on a foreign planet of space farmers. We're gonna need to do a couple of tasks to convince them to help rebuild the ship.
First, you need to interpret the language in the alien radio broadcast that's being transmitted. You'll be given nine 6-12 letter words with their letters scrambled, and each set of letters will have a number of blanks corresponding to the number of letters in that word. One blank in each word will be highlighted. If you unscramble all the words and insert them in the blanks correctly, the highlighted letters from the top to bottom of the page will give you the code needed to move onto the next part of the challenge. In your web browser, type tiny.url.com/ (without the dot between tiny and url) followed by the letters in the highlighted blanks, in all capitals. After 15 minutes of attempting this portion of the challenge, if you still have not completed the anagrams, you may ask a mod to provide the first letter of 3 of the words (of your selection). After an additional 15 minutes of attempting this portion of the challenge, you may ask the mod for 3 additional letters of any of the words (of your selection). This will continue until you have found the link to bring you to the second portion.
That link will bring you to a rectangular grid of dots, with some numbers contained in the spaces between 4 dots. Some dots will already be connected. Your goal is to create a barrier for the farmers' space cows. You'll need to draw one continuous path that doesn't pass through the same dot more than once or intersect with other sections of the path. The path must create a single, connected barrier. Numbers represent the "fences" created by the path (exactly 2 edges are created around the number 2, 3 edges around 3, etc.)
You will need an image editor to complete this portion of the challenge.
Spoiler: Example Puzzle
The use of any outside sources for this challenge is prohibited.
You'll start the challenge by completing this google form, upon which your time will start and you'll receive the list of scrambled words and blanks. Once you've finished with the barrier, submit the form again, using the space provided to link a screenshot of the completed puzzle. For every line missing from the solution, and for every line placed in an incorrect spot, 10 minutes will be added onto your time. The Black Hole nominee with the slowest time, as well as the Void participant with the slowest time, will be eliminated from the game. You have
24 hours
to complete this challenge.

This was a tough void. Plus you are all great competitors. We're getting down to the best of the best. Its like this is invasion of the champions and you've made it to the oasis. Or in terms all you non challenge watchers, you've made jury except you don't get to vote, there is no ponderosa, and I don't care of you watch any tribal councils, because we don't have them. Surviving today means you make the halfway mark. All times include penalties.
{DrumBeats vs. McMenno}
Who wins the black hole?
Spoiler:
With a time of 40:45 McMenno wins and cannot be voted into the black hole next episode.
This means we say goodbye to:
Spoiler:
DrumBeats with a time of 58:01.
You were quite the formidable opponent the entire game. You were well rounded and quite easily a threat to win the entire thing. I'm definitely sad to see you go, but I'm glad you're in the community now!
Onto The Void.
In first is:
Spoiler:
Fluminator with a time of 39:17.
Next was:
Spoiler:
Cephrir at 41:33.
Next was:
Spoiler:
Gimmick with 58:01
Next was:
Spoiler:
Xalxe at 1:05:41. This leaves Radja vs. PrivateI.
Final person safe is:
Spoiler:
Radja with a time of 2:01:46
This means the person leaving us is:
Spoiler:
PrivateI at 3:02:01 post-penalties. This saddens me because you are a star after Survivor meet 2. Its been great to see you grow and you've always been great at challenges and it sucks to see you go this time. You've been like my edgic winner since episode 1. Hope to see you next time.
We liked it so much the first time that we're bringing it back. Just like the first Obstacle Course mission, your team will run through a course as individuals in which the time of your slowest team member determines your team's final time. However, you'll once again get to appoint "experts" to assist teammates who struggle in each task.
There will be 4 obstacles which will remain unknown until you begin, and you'll need to appoint 1 expert for each obstacle before anyone can start. You'll need a
expert. Once you've done this, individuals must fill out a google form when they're ready to begin an obstacle. They'll be given each obstacle separately when they're ready, and their time on each obstacle will be stopped once they meet its qualifications.
Once everyone has finished the challenge, experts will give "assistance" on the obstacles they've been assigned to. Assuming the expert wasn't the slowest on their assigned obstacle, time will be taken off of a team's slowest member on an obstacle, while time is added onto that obstacle's expert at the same rate. This continues until either 1) the two players' times become identical, or 2) a tie is reached for slowest time on an obstacle. If the latter is true, all tied players will continue having their time reduced while the expert's time increases at double the rate (or triple if there are 3 tied players, etc.) This continues until the expert has the same time as the tied players.
The details of this process may be hard to understand, but your optimal strategy is essentially to have everyone be as fast as possible, and if your expert on an obstacle is faster than everyone else, it'll help your overall time.
An image editor will be required for multiple obstacles. Some obstacles will give time penalties for incorrect parts of your answer, but the maximum time on each obstacle is
30 minutes
.
No outside resources are allowed, nor is communication about the challenge once players have started on the obstacles.
You have
48 hours
due to the need to determine your experts. The team with the slowest member will enter the Void, and 2 of its members will enter the Black Hole.

Some of these obstacles proved to be a bit harder than the first time around, and at this stage in the game it's understandable if you have trouble finishing all of them. Let's see how everyone did.
Spoiler: Kakuro
This was by far the most daunting of the 4 obstacles, but luckily the experts were both able to finish. TWIE brings all the Gold non-finishers down to 27:52, while Radja brings the Purple non-finishers down to 28:20.
Spoiler: Words
Both experts did excellent here! D3f3nd3r brings the Gold non-finishers down to 24:36, and Chevre brings Purple non-finishers down to 25:31.
Spoiler: Bridges
Despite a couple time penalties, everyone was able to go under 30 minutes here. Fluminator brought MGD and Kublai's times down to 10:53,
while McMenno brought McMenno and Vashta's times to 14:04.
Spoiler: Reflexes
This was rough for a few people. Cephrir took the Gold Team's non-finishers down to 23:24, while Gimmick brought Kublai's time down to 18:24.
Spoiler: Final Placements
The Purple Teal pulls out their first win since Mission 2! The Gold Team will unfortunately enter the Void, where two of its members will be sent to the Black Hole.

{Void 07}
Cryptobeats
Communication has been the most important part about this game. We've communicated with aliens many times, but you're all far from mastering communication with every species in the galaxy. The Beatrots are a form of alien who only speak using sounds from a drum machine, and today you'll be interpreting their message into English.
When you're ready to begin, you'll be given a link to a sound clip. A message has been encoded using a system where every letter is replaced by a sound from a drum machine. Repeated uses of the same sound correspond to the same letter. No letter is associated with more than one sound, and no sound encompasses more than one letter. To indicate a space between words, there will be a pause with no sound. Through deduction and trial-and-error, you must decode the message and send it to a moderator to stop your time. If you are incorrect, you'll be told to keep going. The player in the black hole with the slowest time, as well as the player in the void with the slowest time, will be eliminated from the game. You have
24 hours
to complete this challenge.
To give you some assistance in solving the cryptogram, use this video as a key. It plays 6 of the sounds that will be used for the challenge, and shows the letter that sound will represent. The sound for each letter will be played twice while the letter is showing on screen.

If multiple players in the void or if both players in the black hole fail to finish the challenge, the player with the fastest time overall will decide who from the non-finishers is eliminated.

I love music challenges, even though this was only drum sounds. Or DrumBeats, if you will, may he rest in peace. Let's get to the results.
First, we'll look at the black hole. Ghug vs. Vashta. Who came out on top?
Spoiler:
Ghug, with a time of 1:01:12.
Meaning...
Spoiler:
Vashta, your time in the game is up, unfortunately. You gave the game a valiant effort, and finished in 1:16:10, but we must say goodbye to you here. You did great for your first time, and we hope to see you in more games in the future, especially more social ones where you can truly shine.
Now the Void competitors. Who finished with the fastest time?
Spoiler:
Xalxe, with a time of 33:15.
Who came in second?
Spoiler:
TWIE, in 42 minutes.
Third?
Spoiler:
Cephrir, with a time of 48:01.
Only D3f3nd3r and McMenno remain.
The final surviving Void participant is...
Spoiler:
D3f3nd3r, closely behind Ceph with a time of 49:13.
Which spectator finished behind 4th place before we created the partial key?
Spoiler:
Haschel, with a time of 57 minutes.
This means....
Spoiler:
With a time of 1:12:02, McMenno, despite defeating the black hole last round, we've gotta set you adrift into the vacuum of space here. Maybe you can end up like that guy from the Cloverfield Paradox and get your arm taken off by a sentient wall, and then have your detached arm write everyone a message that then proves meaningless to the plot, and you eventually blow up after phantom goo makes a wall turn magnetic and attract a CO2 cannister to the wall which blows up without there even being an ignition. We hope to see you in the future.

{Mission 08}
Ku-Do-Su
The neat thing about travelling the universe is seeing how different alien culture can be from ours. Did you know that most of them do sudoku puzzles with all the numbers already filled in? It's so fascinating.
This mission is
semi-live
, and you'll compete whenever you have as many teammates online as possible. When you're ready to begin, you'll be given a link to a Google Drawing, as used in The Missing Link mission. In the drawing, there will be 27 puzzle pieces, each made up of 3 sudoku number blocks. Some blocks will be blue and some will be orange; adjacent 3x3 sections will contain blocks of different colors. For example, the top left 3x3 section of numbers will all be blue, and the 3x3 sections to the right and below will both be orange. It is your task to assemble all the puzzle pieces so that they form a 9x9 grid in which no row has any repeating numbers, no column has any repeating numbers, and no 3x3 colored section has any repeating numbers. You are not allowed to take apart or rotate any puzzle piece, nor can you change the number within a block. The mods will be watching. Finally,
no outside sources are allowed for this challenge
.
Once you've assembled the puzzle pieces correctly, your time will be stopped. The team with the fastest time will win the mission, and the losing team will all enter the Void, where 2 members will face the Black Hole. You have
(expired on 2018-02-16 16:02:02)
to complete the mission.
