They don't play a defensive playstyle and ask their backs to cover more ground than they would for club, and that hurts the unit collective, but Kompany, Alderweireld, and Vertonghen are 3 of the very best Centre backs in the world.

@Faraday, I feel that the starting line up isn't better but when they switch to 4 back with dier, stone, and the two full backs they are stronger, but Godin probably makes the difference, so I'll give them 4th best.

Ya i dont disagree with anything here about them individually being great but i think a defensive system has as much to do with how well a team defends.

I mean it's almost as if positioning, communication, and organization matter more than individual technical ability when it comes to defense
