Note: final setup is this, but with the mafia goon replaced with a mafia multitasking odd-night rolecop.

town informed gunsmith ("all non-town roles will investigate as having a gun")
town 2-shot bodyguard
town 1-shot vigilante
town night 8 vigilante
vs.
mafia informed goon ("there exists a 1-shot vigilante and a town night 8 vigilante")
mafia goon

notes:
  • obvious conceit in that gunsmith is the big town informative but it has 1.5 false positives (likening it to a neapolitan) (one false positive is immediately confirmable town) and scum are specifically given help in fakeclaiming
  • gunsmith knows there isn't an sk, good riddance
  • oh right i somehow forgot that sk is abnormal now. even better riddance
  • earlier revisions of this setup: n2 rolecop instead of 2-shot bodyguard (too inconsistent imo)
  • big issue with this being that it rewards certain goofy behaviors. night 8 vigilante may or may not be obviously a miller and as such should maybe claim d1; might be a bad idea because it is essentially a VT claim but a normal-savvy person would claim "my role contains night 8 vigilante." as such it would be rewarding people for knowing about the weird recentnormal role stuff which is goofy. also relies on scum to come up with a role that makes sense from a setup design standpoint (ideally they claim or effectively breadcrumb night 7 or night 9 vigilante i think) which is goofy but in some way the norm.
  • this can be reworked to be less centered around the gunsmith interaction if that's Too Goofy.

I'm a little concerned that this is townsided, actually. With the Vig, game is essentially a 9p with a Cop, D2 IC, Bodyguard, and Miller, against a scumteam that has no real power.

I'd turn the Goon into a Vanilla Cop: something to help them PR hunt, but not giving them a huge advantage. Though, that may be OP as it's essentially a Mafia Miller.

Perhaps Mafia Motion Detector. SOMETHING which gives them a way of having the power to find the cop. They need a counter to the follow the cop present. So, Vanilla Cop, or if the mafia miller nature of that is OP, Motion Detector, would be my suggestion.

And the reason there's follow the cop: the Bodyguard may only be 2x, but in a 9p, lylo comes on D3. With an IC from the Vig, and a full Cop (since the cop knows all innocents are reliable), that's 3 conftown on D2, of a Micro game, a full third of the players total, and nearly half the living.

Actually, yeah. Voicing that out: Mafia need the Vanilla Cop, as both an investigative and sadeclaim.

i'm interested as to whether you would expect night 8 vig to claim d1

i would have this game daytalk enabled by default (might be up to the mod i guess?) and also i don't suppose i can impose my cop/psychologist/ninja/traitor restriction but it will kind of be implicit if it's public that i designed the setup which might be an issue

I can approve it with the goon replaced with the multitasking odd night role cop. With that, it's reasonably within the target range. (Tho when the game is finished, I'll probably need to unpack my process for why.)
