In post 53, xx2008 wrote:I feel that RVS should end naturally, when we have some players that we think could be scum. But when we force-end it, we're ending it without enough information and reactions. I think RVS is a fairly important stage in the game, for it allows us to watch reactions. We can't really vote with logic if we don't have enough reactions from players.

Seeing this post, I sort of feel that you are scum trying to push a lynch on Lamees by trying to end RVS earlier than usual. That was a very brief RVS, much, much shorter than those on my two previous games on this website. As I've said, RVS is necessary to get reactions from people, and should not be force-ended. It ends when it ends. But now that RVS is over, of course there's no point in starting it up again.

I basically agree with all that xx is saying - that being said, I do get a bit of a LAMIST [1] vibe off these posts. I'm not sure how I feel about this; I think scum has to try to look town because they are not town, so they will try extra hard resulting in LAMIST. I usually end up doing it as scum so I'm wondering a bit about this. Is anyone else seeing this or am I reading too much into it?

[1]LAMIST - look at me I'm so town

I’m seeing it. town sometimes do it, but generally it’s easy to tell when town is doing it.

See Korina from our last game.

If I can make a general comment: can we all endeavour to write people's names instead of simply saying "you said ..." or "he's going to...". I sometimes can't tell if the poster is writing to the person directly above them, or someone else. It's tricky following the context sometimes.

Now, going back to post #27:
  • Flavour Leaf
(sorry - I'm Canadianizing your name... it's a habit  ) did you finish your sentence? "On a personal level, that means..." What does it mean?

Yeah, I finished the sentence. I understand the confusion.

I just meant the previous sentence was me saying that I liked it on a personal level, not like town reading wise

Xx wins a town point here.

Imo scum is more lax in rvs and the potential for AI posts is surprisingly high.

Flavor's declaration of RVS being over (indicated by his "serious" vote on xx) comes off odd to me with how little support he put behind the vote. The irony is that the vote itself seems forced.

His comments of the posts not seeming natural seemed forced. Haha. To be fair, i incorrectly read xx last game as well, so it’s not a strong read or anything. Just a solid starting point, I feel.
Well, enigma there skipped some post. I gave my reasoning for the vote right here. I specifically stated Xx was a starting point and not a strong read.

RCEnigma
, in response to your question:
- I find it interesting that Inferno390 would "find something forced" in Lamees's post. That particular post didn't seem unusual to me.
- It's kind of funny, though, that Lamees would talk about how easy it is to pocket xx2008. I know it's a reference to a previous game, but why bring up your badguy skillz in a new game? LOL :D

No I saw your reasoning, however it seems disingenuous to place your serious vote on a read that you aren't serious about.

The OMGUS vote doesn't make me feel any better about it.

Followup questions gamer. Do you buy Infernos explanation of the play, that being he likes to move out of RVS by artificially creating conflict. Also what kind of motivations do you see in doing something like that?

LCpl what did you think of Lamees response? Also of the sheeping on your Lamist xx read (Flavor and Gamer) Though I do understand you posed it as a question for validation.

What do I think of Inferno390's play? It's a toss-up for me. I see his point about needing to move a game forward; tossing around random votes for weeks will get us nowhere.
Buuut
, we've been playing for about 24 hours, so why would Inferno390 want to rush it? As of right now, we have 8 days, 9 hours, 23 minutes to find mafia.

Back to you,

@RCEnigma
Are you referring to #88?

As for the sheeping on the read, I think Flavor's response is genuine enough - (although I wish he'd say
how
you can tell when town is doing it) but LMG's... not so sure.
I got a bit of a LAMIST vibe too from xx2008. Why did he declare random voting to be over? I think I'm changing my vote.
I fail to see the connection between LAMIST = ending random voting. If anything, I think scum would prefer town to get bogged down in RVS for like 9 days, then quicklynch someone in the last 24 hours . So, I think exiting RVS in a timely fashion is something towny - assuming it is exited with enough information to start off with. So in this case, I don't see why declaring random voting to be over (which xx didn't do) = LAMIST, and this feels tbh a bit opportunistic.

Why I thought xx's posts were LAMIST was primarily the tone of the posts - the overabundance of "we" in #53 especially. Basically, he seems to be trying to hard to reinforce the notion that he is town.

to be clear, XX didn't say "RVS is now over" - he said "I suppose it [RVS] is really over".It looks to me more an
observation
than a
declaration
if you notice the distinction?

What information can we get from RVS?
Plenty.
  • Reactions from players - a new scum player will tend to get extremely defensive if placed on L-1 for instance
  • Observations of players behaviour - anyone standing out as a VI? anyone who obviously has something to hide? anyone who is trying too hard?
  • and in future days, I find it sometimes helps to go back and look at who said what day 1 in light of flips
