vaguely in order of certainty:

battery - pretty self-explanatory
web - status of a web page, i.e. whether it's up or down
game - "game status" is ringing a bell, but i can't quite place it rn. it's used outside mafia, right?
duck - this is probably an enormous stretch, but "duck season being on or off" (or its status) is a common joke in looney tunes?

other than these four, i can maybe see lab, robot, or note, but don't have anything super solid for any of those other than ~feels~

I like KING for sure. GAME resonates well with me, although that's probably because all the games I mod in Mish-Mash have a "Game Status" window in the OP. Like, if I'd been in the game from the start and The Bulge was a frequent player of games I mod, I'd rank that more highly, but neither of those things are true.

INDIA might be a possibility? Don't they have a history with caste systems as a way of measuring social status?

LIMOUSINE would be another status symbol. Possibly OPERA along the same lines.

BATTERY seems like a good guess as well. So does NOTE - I was thinking along the lines of a status report, which could be written as a note.

I'm tentatively leaning BATTERY = KING > NOTE > LIMOUSINE > INDIA > GAME >> OPERA, and I'm not sure where passing fits into there.

i don't think i've personally heard titles such as "king" be described as a status, but i am esl so easily possible i'm in the wrong here. it makes sense, so if you're all confident on king, i'm down to play that next.

Maybe not so much that King *is* a status, but that a King *has* status, and typically more than anyone else.
