Which sim racing wheel should I buy?

I'm looking at blowing some money and getting into sim racing. I have the pc for it, so all I need is wheel and pedals. I'm currently deliberating between getting a used Thrustmaster t300 OR a Logitech g29. Thoughts? My budget is to not exceed 300, preferably lower cost is better. Also is a shifter worth it? I'm mostly interested in doing f1 races and am not interested in rally/rally-cross. Also, what games would you recomend?
