So my choices are obvious. Shop on top of shop with charles, tavern next to my tavern with meme. Any objections?

I think it would be best to place my shop in the town that already has a shop (gasp such strategy much wow) so I'm thinking

Shop in MemeVashVille to the right of the shop that's already there
Tavern in InspirMemeTropolis to the left of the other tavern (with you putting your tavern to the left of that again Insp?)

So like I'm already putting a tavern in VashMemeVille, so you placing your tavern there is +5 to that city, not +3 (which would be what you add by playing the shop there). So it's better there if Inspir doesn't play his tavern (as otherwise you just add +3) to that area, and considering that inspir should likely play his park (and add 6 points to MemeInspirTropolis), that's a very likely scenario. The main reason for playing the park over the tavern is that parks need to be adjacent to each other, whereas taverns do not, so you can recoup that cost later.

Still either play is probably fine.

left-left would fill the entire row, which would make future placements less flexible. I think going left-bottom would be better.

Insp wouldn't play his Park in IMtropolis, that would force him to play his Tavern in a city with no Tavern synergy - I have to stick with this.
