Characters are assiged ratings for six major attributes:
Stregth, Dexterity, Knowledge, Perception, Technical and Mechanical - They are assigned a rating that shows how good they are at that attribute, usually between 1D and 5D but it can be higher as well. 2D is average for a normal person and 3D is average for a heroic character. The D represents how many dice you roll on a skill check, for example if you have 3D on Strength you would roll 3 six sided dice and add them together.

There are also a multitude of skills under the various attributes that are more specific, such as Blaster, Dodge, Brawling, Starship Piloting, Con, Bargain, etc. You will have the opportunity to improve your character as time goes on with character points. You get force points that can make it easier to accomplish tasks and dark side points for doing evil acts and you could eventually turn to the dark side, losing control of your character permanantly. You can also die from being wounded in battle, starvation, etc.

Each skill roll has a "difficulty check" based on how difficult it is for what you are trying to do. 5 is very easy, 10 is easy, 15 is moderate, 20 is difficult, and 30 is heroic. If you are doing something of moderate difficulty, and have 3D skill rating, you would roll 3 six sided dice and try to beat 15 to be successfull.

Each player will have an initiative score during combat based on their perception. Highest initiative goes first and downward.

A combat round lasts 5 seconds. If you try and do more than one thing at a time, your rating for each skill goes down by 1D.

I don't know that ewoks would have a lot of money or interest in a career.

That's why they would only be able to afford an armchair historian instead of a real one.
