While it's an honor just to be nominated, it's a bit ironic I lost out to the person I nominated.

Ah, who am I kidding, I'm bitter. Not.

Suggestion for the next round of scummies:

Cassandra Award (aka 'I told you so' award):

Player most likely to correctly identify the mafia but fail to persuade the Town. Will typically either witness the Town's defeat and be unable to prevent it, or get lynched (bonus points if the candidate gets lynched after correctly identifying the scums, and if the scums still win).

Another suggestion:

We need some award for the most newbie-friendly player. There are persons here that are SO nice to players just joining, explaining everything and such, they need to be honoured.

Best newbie performance:
Persuading the town in your first few games is a very hard job. I think an award for an excellent newbie-performance is a good idea.

Gotta love those vigilante roles ;).

I also like the best newbie performance idea.

Officially nominate Kerplunk for 2004 Cassandra, aka 'I told you so', Award.

Which game: Old Pond mafia (classic setting, no cop, nameless townies)

What he did: In the absence of cops or specific roles, Kerplunk correctly identified
all three mafias
and was killed for it. He failed to persuade the town, and the mafia won.

For Cassandra, Handsome Dan (Mafia 20) deserved that. (He managed to ID the mafia despite their possession of a mason godfather.)

Anybody given thought to my proposed "Clinton Award"? (Whoever, as scum, manages to lie their way out of the worst mess. See Samadhi's legendary "I shot the sheriff" performance at the end of the first Discworld mafia.)

Your Clinton Award was called the Johnny Cochran Award after Sketch's failed but excellent claim in Improbably.

The Cassandra award should probably be called the Handsome Dan Award... but you can't win a permanent slot... the awards will need to be for the year.

No, the Clinton is for those who manage to convince the town of something in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. It's one thing to sell the town the Brooklyn Bridge when the town is short on information; it's quite another to do so when there's a cop screaming that he's gotten a guilty result on you.
