You'll definitely be in the "generic newbie" category, for not get the name right. I'm sure DP will vote for you. :P

Here's the original idea:

Oh, and I'm wondering when the Shrek town finally gets their Scummie for Best Performance? It's been over half a year now ;)!

why not just aim to release the awards same time as last time?
build the schedule round that, say 3-4 weeks for judging (we could have been a lot quicker last time lets be honest)
uh, probably takes 3-4 nominating, so you'd need to have all the chosen awards lined up 2 months in advance of award day.
etc.

April is a bit late. The original Oscars idea sounds much more comfortable.

Someone should make a wiki page on the site, to keep an archieve of all the winners from past years. We can't just let the pictures accumulate below each person's avatar.

And by someone, I mean not me. Unless you want me to. But defenetly not now.

The Oscars are on the 27th of February.
Nominations should begin around the 5th of December through the 5th of January to let in year ending games.

Then we can mooch around for a couple months with the voting and announce as per schedule.

I'd like to keep the announcement date same as the Oscars. If you want any changes in the nomination schedule, let me know.
Also, to bring a sort of structure to the process, I propose that nominations be seconded and submitted in a form like this:

Nominee:
name
Award:
category
Game:
thread link

Second:
name of seconder assuming the poster to be the original nominee.

I'll put up a nomination thread when nominations begin to be accepted.

Again, I'd like to ask for any new ideas for awards anyone may have.

Personally, the best newcomer(s) and strongest/best returning player are something I'd like to see. What do y'all think?
Also, possible names for the new awards (if/when) are also solicited.

How about "Best online mafia site." I can't decide between www.mafiascum.net and the M:tG forums. Ooh, or that Israeli site that Antrax posted.

I like that. It's win-win, if you think about it.

Of course, eventhough we give out the prize, we wont be biased. Defenetly not.

maybe we should brainstorm new awards (keep the same from last year and add some) now, and make a desicion by december 4th, and december 5th we open up the nominations.

Mathscum is on mtgnews?

I'm thinking mafiascum has better games in terms of interesting roles, game design. (as of last year). Unfortunately, lurking is a problem just about everywhere.

And most people on mafiascum might be biased towards mafiascum anyway. How about, best mafia website that isn't mafiascum?

Who do we nominate to judge the nominations? I suggest phoebus.
...whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Maybe someone should explain it to Wacky, then? :)

I like the idea of new nominations, but I think (as last year) that we should steer away from things like "best player" and the like. This should be fun, not a contest.

Yeah, the actual game is competitive enough in that manner. But "best peformance" should be fine, IMO.

Change in schedule.
Since a month was too long to be mooching around doing nothing.

I'll put up a thread accepting new award ideas in a week's time.

Nominations now begin January 2 - February 2
