1 Loyal Town Mailman
6 Vanilla Townie
2 Mafia Goon

This is based on the Cop + 6 vs. 2 setup, but a Loyal Mailman is stronger because it's just as good as investigating, but better at making its results public without being caught. Cop + 6 vs. 2 is a little scumsided, so hopefully this variant of it is balanced.

Quick question, is there a word limit on the messenger’s message?

No (although it has to be a single message, the messenger can't send more than one message per night).
