Space Monkey Mafia 2: Pigs in Space!

Mod: Mr Stoofer
Back-up Mod: Phoebus

The Galaxy is at war! In almost every system, the Gorillas battle the Space Monkeys -- with nothing less than the freedom of the Galaxy at stake! After the Gorillas’ failed attempt at a decisive strike, the focus of the war is about to shift to Moonbase Woodgate: a small outpost on an unnamed moon, controlled by the Space Pigs. The Space Pigs have remained neutral so far in this war, but that situation cannot continue. Even they must take sides…

RULES

General

[01] Votes must be in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
[02] Please be attentive and unvote, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I’d appreciate it.
[03] Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, their pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded.
[04] You may vote: no lynch – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
[05] At deadline, a person will be lynched if they have a majority of voters voting for them. That means you can be lynched with just one vote if only one person is voting.
[06] The game is not to be discussed outside the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so – and then only in the manner stated in your role PM.
[07] When I set a day deadline, the deadline lasts until I actually lock the thread to calculate the end of day vote count.
[08] Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing. That means NO "BAH!" POSTS.
[09] No small or hidden text or obscure codes. Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts either.
[10] Don’t quote any out-of-thread communications regarding this game. If you do, I will destroy you.
[11] If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
[12] Unlike other mods I am fallible. Please point out any mistakes I make gently. In particular, if I post a vote count that does not accurately reflect your vote, it is your responsibility to correct me -- otherwise your vote may be treated as it appears in the vote count.
[13] If you have any questions at all, please PM me or post the question in the thread.
[14] Remember, it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun. Be nice to your fellow players and your mod. I have zero tolerance for abusive posts.
[15] This game will not be permitted to drag. As far as I am concerned, no day should normally last longer than 3-4 RL weeks, and I’ll set deadlines accordingly.
[16] Anyone who goes more than 72 hours without posting, without advance warning, is likely to be replaced. (I don't count weekends for this purpose.)

Special Rules for Space Monkey Mafia 2: Pigs in Space!

[17] This game will be a Deep South-style game. That means there will be no nights: players with abilities will use their powers during the day.
[18] If you have a role with a “choice”, then either (a) each day you must PM me your choice for the following day, or (b) your power takes effect the moment I receive your PM. Your role PM will make it clear which applies to you.
[19] If a day ends (by lynch or deadline) without you having sent me any choice, then you have lost your choice for that day. Please note that a hammer vote ends the day (except in the case of deadline) -- so get your choices in before the hammer!
[20] If your role gets results, I’ll send you your results at the end of each day.
[21] Whenever a player is killed, I will state in the thread whether they were killed by a Space Pig, a Space Monkey or a Gorilla.
[22] The most common function on Moonbase Woodgate is that of technician. All loyal Space Pig Technicians (equivalent to a vanilla Townie) get this Role PM:
ROLE: SPACE PIG TECHNICIAN (LOYAL)

You are a Loyal Space Pig, employed as a technician on Moonbase Woodgate.

You win when Moonbase Woodgate is in the hands of the Loyal Space Pigs and/or their allies.

Please confirm in the thread.

Welcome to Moonbase Woodgate

Moonbase Woodgate is a small scientific outpost operated by the Space Pigs. Its location is so remote and obscure that it is cut off from FTL communications with the Space Pig homeworld – a fact which is about to assume some significance…

Until now the base has been of little relevance to wider Galactic affairs. However, it is located in the area between Space Monkey and Gorilla territory, and has therefore assumed huge strategic importance in the Galactic War. Both sides are desperate to take control of the base.

For some time the Space Pigs have attempted to maintain a policy of neutrality in the War. That policy has failed and the Space Pigs have now had to choose sides. An alliance has just been signed between the Space Pigs and one of the warring parties. Unfortunately for the Space Pigs of Moonbase Woodgate, they are so remote that those who live there do not know which side the Space Pigs have chosen. So you do not know who your allies are and who your enemies are.

One thing is for certain, though. Now that the Space Pigs have joined the War, both the Space Monkeys and the Gorillas will be sending armed forces to Moonbase Woodgate. One force’s mission will no doubt be to protect the base and save the Space Pigs. The other force is planning on having pork chops for supper…

War Arrives at Moonbase Woodgate

As expected, long range scanners have detected two craft approaching Moonbase Woodgate. One is an APC of the Space Monkey Navy, the other is a Gorilla Space Assault Vehicle.

The following messages have also been intercepted:
++++HIGH COMMAND MISSION BRIEFING++++
++MESSAGE BEGINS++
1> SPACE PIGS HAVE SIGNED ALLIANCE WITH THE ENEMY
2> PROCEED TO MOONBASE WOODGATE COORDINATES TO FOLLOW
3> KILL ALL SPACE PIGS
4> SECURE MOONBASE
++MESSAGE ENDS++
#MESSAGE HEADER J38G5VB8Q9M#
#SPACE PIGS HAVE JOINED US IN OUR FIGHT AGAINST THE ENEMY#
#MISSION OBJECTIVES FOLLOW#
#OBJECTIVE ONE LAND MOONBASE WOODGATE#
#OBJECTIVE TWO SECURE MOONBASE WOODGATE AGAINST ENEMY ATTACK#
#OBJECTIVE THREE PROTECT OUR ALLIES THE SPACE PIGS#
#END J38G5VB8Q9M#
Unfortunately, there is no way of telling which message was sent to which ship.

Even more worryingly, the following message has just been detected:
++++HIGH COMMAND MISSION BRIEFING SUPPLEMENTAL++++
++MESSAGE BEGINS++
1> SPACE PIGS LOYAL TO OUR CAUSE HAVE INFILTRATED MOONBASE WOODGATE
2> THEY WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH YOU ON ARRIVAL
3> PROTECT OUR ALLIES IF POSSIBLE
4> CHECK SUPPLIES OF APPLE SAUCE TO ACCOMPANY PORK CHOPS
++MESSAGE ENDS++
This means that – on top of everything else – there are
Traitor Pigs
on Moonbase Woodgate, who are on the same side as the force now on their way to wipe out the Loyal Space Pigs!

All Role PMs have now been sent.

Day 0 begins now.

Space Pigs should confirm in the thread and may discuss their predicament.

Space Monkeys and Gorillas have not yet arrived on Moonbase Woodgate and must confirm by PM.
They may not post in the thread
.

If you have a choice that takes effect the following day, you should send me your Day 1 choice now. If you have a choice that takes effect immediately, you must wait until Day 1 to use it.

There will be no lynch on Day 0. Day 1 will begin once everyone has confirmed.

Confirm. Seems to me that we have quite a predicament here. On to matters, eh?

Looks like we have a situation here which is rough. Yet, I believe we can ascertain which group we should ally ourselves with. Let's hear from all the space pigs before we start tossing ideas around.

I'm going to throw out a few brash ideas. Discuss.

Do you think that:

-Traitor Pigs know who the "scum" is in the game?
-That both groups can talk to each other privately throughout the game?
-The high mortality roles could include bombs of sorts?

if we work at this in a bright way, We should be able to figure out exactly how to fight this.

1) I think they do, as it says "THEY WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH YOU ON ARRIVAL".
2) There are no phases between the days right? I think they can talk privately the whole game, but about the traitor pigs I'm not sure.
3) I don't understand the mortality yet. Stoofer said it would become clear in the thread, who has a high mortality and who doesn't, iirc. But I didn't see such a thing. Bomb-like roles are hard to balance, but I can imagine one or two being in the game. Jester also came to my mind, reading "high mortality". But my policy with Jesters is: forget Jesters if it's a closed game.

You call
this
high mortality? I have a higher chance of getting hit by a car than dying with this role.

Okay, not really, but I've been waiting to make that joke for ages.

My guess is that the Monkeys/Gorillas are all the cowardly low mortality buns, while the Pigs are high mortality.

The Monkeys/Gorillas are the low mortality roles.

Jesters will not make an appearance in this game ..

I think the Monkeys/Gorillas are high mortality. I say this because, in the signup thread, ZombieSlayer requested a high mortality role.
