Big fan of what caled has there. If the concern is grey on sepia, could you provide a snake of a could darker and lighter shades?

Personally I think it's a strong logo that communicates the idea of the game very clearly

random popping in to say that the logo with a tie/magnifying glass was cool. no longer remember who did it.

I feel that the negative space thing is harder to get right in every theme/use it as an overall logo in shirts, social media or etc, because how good the negative thingy looks is very reliant on what is the background color/other details

I feel that a simplistic idea with a magnifying glass or similar would be better overall but dunno, not a designer here.

The red text needs to be on all of the letter parts under the magnifying glass, it doesn't make sense otherwise

Not all players in a game of mafia are scum though. If all the text under the magnifying glass is red, it's just a colored lens, not a revelation that one of the players is EVIL or a tool that helps with deduction.

I think the magnifying glass logo is the best one so far, but it's also the one that's seen the most iterations. I'm not good enough to do it myself, but if those that are did more iterations of some of the other designs I think it would be a more even comparison.

ok not to start discourse in this thread but it's really peeved me how some people post only to criticize designs (made for FREE with a VOLUNTEER'S time and effort) with no constructive suggestions at all. if you want a logo designed exactly to your specifications you can either 1. make it yourself or 2. HIRE a designer to make it for you, not neg your peers just because some small aspect of it isn't perfect

If you don't want criticism, pm your design to mith instead of posting it in the brainstorming thread

Their complaint wasn't against criticism, it was about a lack of constructive criticism. "x is bad" vs "maybe try y", or actually trying y yourself.

If the complaint is about the colour of something, its easy to try out different colours yourself. Not putting in any effort is disrespecting the effort of those that are.

No. If I have a thought about what colors might be better I will post that I think maybe those colors might be better, in case that inspires someone who isn't me to look at the colors and improve the design. In exchange, I also give up any rights to complain should people completely ignore my suggestions or mith choose a logo I dislike. (Not that I really have much say if mith chooses a logo I dislike in the first place.)

Speaking of which:

I personally like the grey, but if there's a legitimate need to change it probably a metallic color would be best. Silver, maybe? Potentially brown, although I don't think brown would go well with the red lettering. I think anything ROYGBIV would just look unnatural. If someone wanted to be super spicy they could make a wooden handle texture, but honestly I doubt such a texture would show up well on as small a scale as the logo will likely be.

On a merch note, it'd be cool to see a rainbow colored version of the logo for shirts/hoodies/etc given our large LGBTQ etc. population and emphasis on making this a place where such people can congregate and feel welcome. Assuming of course that the site does a shirt/hoodie/etc. order sometime in the near future.

It's p easy. If you don't like something you say "I do not like X because of Y. Could you/maybe try Z to see if that fixes Y."

It takes no effort to say something is bad and does little other than demoralize a volunteer trying to make something pro bono
