oohhhhhhhh okay

I was thinking it was more like you were telling a story from what you'd hinted but I couldn't tell like what direction the VC imagery was going in or what point it was trying to make, it being different themes on deja vu on different days makes so much more sense lol

Easily the single best town performance I have seen in 11 years of playing, absolutely insane. There's being right, there's being right for the right reasons, and then there's being right on literally everything and in every possible path to get there for which any single one would have sufficed.

fwiw i called this out as a misstep basically as soon as i did this
in my defense tho while bork was probably a lock the other townies who had been voting prism were already backing off and even if i could have gotten bork i'm not sure i could have gotten the other town votes necessary at that point, and i was wary at that point of depending on a qh to end things fast because that had just kinda failed

I spent a lot of time discussing it with peta after my replaceout. It's a counterfactual so we'll never really know, but I was surprised to have my opinion that your play was actually
riskier
rather than
safer
somewhat validated, even if it took another player to punish it rather than myself.

ie.
Sometimes
it is safer to put your own credibility on the line rather than assume it'll be there later

It's the fact that it was a debatable strategic decision, and not something bland and straightforward like "____ should have posted more wtf", that made it interesting to talk about imo

And I think the fact so many players agreed with you, and it took MT to highlight why it was a misstep, suggests how difficult making the right call there was, and again you were deciding between something like a 99% win (not even confirmed!) vs. a 97%. Even if I'm right that it was 99%, it's not a big deal.

idk it felt risky but like the easiest way to control the slide and i wasn't sure i could get you

like in my mind:
-> iverson maybe yes maybe no, but i had a sinking feeling that if i didn't get you it would be dc, which would have been p bad with my existing associatives
(and iirc infinity was one of the votes on you and then switched to pushing dc, which was obviously not super helpful from my pov)
-> vs forcing a mom bus and controlling the narrative and having an easy infinity vote today (if tweetie hadn't repped in etc etc etc)

it felt like going for a maybe day3 vs a p sure thing day4

don't think i could have predicted/played around tweetie's repping in

I think with bork so solidly on your side, and the others still uncertain but willing to follow bork, you could have easily gotten it through. From my perspective at the time, I saw this as significantly safer than holding off even if both were almost certainly wins. I held this perspective before MT, but I agree that MT was a one-in-a-million replacement and was very surprised to see it
actually
punished.

"Significantly safer" is a stretch, but enough that in your position I would have 100% chosen to go straight for the kill.

Again very subjective and focusing on such a tiny error, if it's even an error at all, would be to miss the point of how well you played and controlled the game as a whole. It's interesting but I don't want to lose sight of the bigger picture.

yeah like i said, it felt like a maybe vs a sure thing (barring tweetie)
and like idk i was counting votes the whole game and i just wasn't sure they were there for you, even with bork

(aside it was fucking terrifying coming back on tuesday and literally not having a clue what cakez and notsci were thinking about tweetie. i kinda just came in and hoped for the best. things are so much easier if you know what everyone is thinking)

oh, and i was already singing your praises in the dead thread, skitter, but this was an absolutely heroic carry on your part. well done.

would have liked working with you longer but it wasn't in the cards given the state of the slot i inherited. hopefully we can run it back sometime

This setup continues to show up in the Mini Theme queue occasionally because the people who have played it love/hate it with a passion.

Max designed and ran it first. Wickedstjr played in the first game, and then ran it himself about 3 years later. That's when Nacho, Momrangel and I first played it. Then I modded it in 2018 and Not_Mafia played that one. So did a couple of 2013 players (Wickedstjr and Wisdom).

I hope this game will continue to show up in the Queues occasionally, and that some of you have been infected with the Perpetual Melo bug, too!
