This setup is for discussing the featured setups list and advocating for removal or additions for the list.
Advocacy can be based on balance, overall appeal, recent trends, and a setup being overdue or underdue for how recently it's been played.
Please be respectful, especially if someone is advocating for a very new setup they are associated with the be featured. This should be realistic and a common occurrence.

What do people think about Popcorn Mafia? It was popular in marathon queue which is why it was liste but I'm very open to an alternative. It sought to serve a role as a larger setup that felt distinct from a normal.

No there isn't my bad >_< I meant last marathon weekend
Once upon a time, in a legendary time, there was a blitz queue though.

theoretically speaking, since these games have an expedited queue, i do wonder if there would be interest in casual blitz opens to kinda playtest novel opens
i like popcorn mafia, i feel like it does require a fun playerlist to play in and more specifically, decent activity levels from everyone so nobody is holding up the fun. marathons are a way to sidestep that issue in a setup like this. but popcorn mafia, since its a setup where pretty much one person has agency at a time, it can get very boring very quickly for everyone else if the game isn't moving along/people are waiting on one person to post. or id imagine. and in a seemingly fast paced, not that strategic, but more instinctual setup, you really want the game momentum to keep going because if a game dies, it can't really be resurrected and this looks like a really boring setup to play if it slows down
i don't know what the criteria of a featured setup should be tho
Featured setup are setups that hopefully fill in just one week.
You can run blitz setups, but we're not opening up marathons to the open queue. If we did that again, it would be the micro queue/lilith I think.

yeah i was just wondering if there would be interest from the playerbase and listmods to somehow leverage a different style of queue filling where we could play a bunch of cool opens with fast queue times and maybe fast game times as well
somehow do something like semiblind setups where an open is kinda randed from a set list of cool looking opens based on how many people sign up, maybe have it so after each game you can ask to stay in the "lobby" and it gets opened up in case people want to swap in or swap out idk, not the point of this thread
the only setup that looks weird to me is noughts and crosses tbh because id imagine there could be some real difficult distributions for scum to play
edit: something like the game will always fire at x, game choice is based on number of people who sign up
I don't actually want to a
Play noughts and crosses but some people seemed into it.
I could definitely add Chromavalon. Could someone make a wiki page for the setup? I think Chromavalon would be a likely fill.

In post 17, Gypyx wrote:why would popcorn mafia necessarily be longer?
I think the argument is that in a game where only one player actually has a vote to a certain extent, the motivation of everyone else, especially if they are not in any danger, dies off quite a bit. Its even more true if its a longer deadline. That type of a game probably is better served by a shorter deadline as it actually will force everyone to be active. If that one has a 10 day deadline people will just put it lower on their priority list, especially as if you are town and get targeted you dont die and suddenly have power.
Its not a bad setup and can be very interesting, but it does threaten to exacerbate certain aspects of games that are not as desirable. I think things like Nightless Vengeful Mayhem (is that still popular? People loved that around 2015) are similar but better.
I added chromavalon for a moment but had to remove it because the article was using "lynch". I will have to write it myself later.

It is intentional that it is mostly micros. I think there is underserved demand for open micros.
I'm interested in adding a 13er or two though
