While I am not in charge here, I would guess that if the typo is a legal move it has to stand, and if not then it doesn't count at all (meaning you haven't made a move yet)In post 25, Gypyx wrote:and in case of a typo, that's not allowed either? correct -- please make sure you check your final moves before posting! treating a typo as kind of like a touch move rule thingIn post 27, Umlaut wrote:

I'm going to check in with Datisi and bugspray before I start any new games for them to check that they both intend to continue playing, given that they both lost all their games so far on timeouts. If either is dropping out, their remaining games will be cancelled and no points awarded for those matchups."we knew everything... And we knew nothing."- Datisi

sorry, haven't been feeling the best in the past couple of days
cancel my games, i do not think i'll have the brainpower for them
sorryI will straight up disregard all reason if you have a PR dream again. You can come back and be like, “I dreamt that Locke is a N2 Bulletproof Multitasking Cop and Self-Targeting Doctor,” and I will go, “Okay, Locke kill it is then.”~M- Menalque

I'd suggest either awarding the point to whoever is on the other side of those matchups (provided they don't also drop out), or else not awarding points to the players against whom Datisi and bugspray timed out. I personally would feel kind of awkward about "winning" just because I had more opportunities to gain points than someone who got fewer games to play.In post 31, Menalque wrote:I'm going to check in with Datisi and bugspray before I start any new games for them to check that they both intend to continue playing, given that they both lost all their games so far on timeouts. I still have two ongoing games! Just timed out (technically) one of them. Just didn't see Umlaut's move.In post 33, Menalque wrote:Sorry to hear that, but how you're doing should take priority.

Datisi's remaining games have been cancelled.
As Mist7676 also timed out of their last game, I'm awaiting confirmation that they intend to continue before starting their game with Gypyx. You Are Worth It- Menalque

does anyone have any objections to this? I'll make the final call, but it seems reasonable to me. I couldn't remember how it was done last year, but (correct me if I'm wrong umlaut) I think it was this instead of what I proposed. In post 34, Umlaut wrote:I'd suggest either awarding the point to whoever is on the other side of those matchups (provided they don't also drop out)

That seems fine. I'm pretty sure in round-robin tournaments if someone drops out it's standard to award their future opponents a forfeit win.
Also, if I wanted to continue a game despite my opponent's time expiring, would I be allowed to do that? It's always the same. When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning... SIT DOWN AND TALK!- Menalque

Yes, this is fine, but please don't feel obliged to. Last year a lot of people were, uh, very generous and it led to things dragging out a lot. If you're enjoying the match and you want to play it out that's okay.In post 37, Something_Smart wrote:Also, if I wanted to continue a game despite my opponent's time expiring, would I be allowed to do that?

Yeah, that makes sense. I would only do it once per game, and only if I didn't already feel I was going to win. It's always the same. The rules as currently written, somewhat paraphrased, say:- If your opponent has already made a move, but did so after their time had run out, you may claim a win/draw on time oryou may make a move yourself. Once you've accepted the move by answering it, you can't later say "Actually I won on time ten moves ago." In this case, the director (Menalque) should not claim on your behalf, but should instead let you decide to accept the move or not.
- If your opponent has notyet made a move (and their time is up), you may at any point claim a win/draw on time. In addition, if the director notices, he may make the claim on your behalf. (Presumably he may use some discretion in doing this, if he has reason to think you'd like to wait a bit longer; but he will definitely end it eventually.)
I suppose these rules don't cover the edge case where someone might deliver checkmate/stalemate after their time has expired, ending the game before their opponent can decide whether to claim. That seems... pretty wildly unlikely to ever happen in this format, and if it does then that's why we have a human arbiter to decide how to handle it. I think typical OTB tournament rules would have it that the mate stands, but I don't think that's any better or worse in principle than allowing the claim.“There are two kinds of people in this world: those who say, ‘There are two kinds of people in this world: those who say there are two kinds of people in this world, and the other kind,’ and those whodon’tsay. Okay, I've awarded points for everyone who had a game cancelled, wrapped up the games that were completed, and I'll start the final match ups in a second.
I've decided to change one of the rules, slightly. Instead of there being no takebacks at all, I'm going to say that it's permissible in cases where a player requests a takeback on their opponent's behalf, when it's reasonably obvious that it was a typo. I think this goes without saying, but please don't try to put any pressure on your opponent to do this. The ultimate responsibility for a making sure the move is the one you want is always on you."we knew everything... And we knew nothing."- Umlaut
