Kind of sad that the game ended before I even got to claim I was a PR, but I was walking into this day with a full inno on Copper and a plan to catch potential scum!Garry in a lie if we were wrong on Bennings.

I am an invest role. I will not be claiming what role that is. I will also not be revealing my results yet.

This is part of the reason that I was thinking about whether invests should claim start of day with post 727. And part of why I was digging into Childs thoughts on the balance of 1 shot Vig + 1 shot Cop + 1 shot mailman and if it could fit another PR in there.

I was worried that it couldn't, and I wanted to get Childs's thoughts on that on the record, and if they said that that had to be it, then I could potentially reveal I am a PR and see if they then changed their thinking on Palmer.


Copper and Clark need to claim Vanilla/Not Vanilla in their next post and claim their targets each night they could fire.

We went for Lars. As I recall we were hoping it might lead town to think scum was off the Clark wagon. We did consider going for MacReady instead though

I figured Childs was one shot and kinda agreed with whoever said the vig power was double edged. Thought we'd have a chance to kill Childs N2.

It seemed likely if there was a protective role it was on Childs or Fuchs. And Garry, Copper and Norris all seemed possible future mislims.

On a different note we were hoping the fact all three of us were on Copper most of D1 would seem too aligned making it less likely for all three of us to be scum together, but no one even noticed that lol.

Without being able to rely on meta, it felt super 'back to basics', and i was actually able to focus on the text and context of the posts, which i think helped a lot

Well I think everyone immediately knew who I was by my stream-of-consciousness spampost style and generally weird wording. This was fun but I kinda felt like I was on the sidelines while town crushed.

i think its probably better (and more fun) if as few people as possible are easily identifiable as their mains, and so everything is confined to only this game rather than outside meta getting brought in, but its kinda unavoidable when most people who play here know each other lol

Tbh I didn't try to tell people who I was, but since I didn't actively try to

it, and my style is literally the most unique thing on mafiascum (plurality helps a lot in that regard ), I legit didn't bother submitting N1 picks specifically because I knew I couldn't win.

(Basically, I didn't actively try to make people know it was me, but I didn't feel like trying to hide it was me, so I just posted, and because I just posted, I did the things I always do. Which is, well--uniquely me.)

I appreciate the carry from people ignoring my wrong setup spec, getting a guilty, and telling me who to shoot tho. All I really had to do was be a PR and be able to be me convincingly so.

Btw on the setup:
I feel like this setup would be balanced if it was not known the Things had no power roles, but knowing that every power role had to be town, I do think the setup was townsided, here.

For it to not be, assimilation needed to be more viable than it actually was. I thought that we had only three power roles--the 1x cop, the 1x "messenger" (friendly neighbor), and the 1x vig--because that was three conftown, and that we

maybe

had room for like a 1x doctor (or as it turned out, x-shot bodyguard).

With the knowledge that Things had no PRs, that's about the level I'd expect for town power, but we had another investigative on top of that.

If we didn't have the knowledge of Things not having PRs, then I think the town has the perfect level of town power; this setup would be close to the balanced range in a mini normal, for instance. The lack of flips and Things having the assimilation mechanic would aid the scum, as would the lack of knowing for sure some things.

But imo, it needed to be one of the two, not both.
We needed either fewer PRs with the knowledge we had, or the number of PRs with less knowledge than we had.

That said, obviously, scum elimination with scum guilty and town being right on the third meant scum got a disproportionately bad start, and I think the win was

mostly

from good play, but I def think it was townsided at least somewhat.

i do think revealing the things had no power roles was a mistake, i somewhat absent-mindedly gave that info out in the setup posts without thinking about the implications. that being said, the only confirmable power roles in the setup were the friendly neighbor, which cleared itself regardless, and the vig, which is basically always town in MS site meta. i suppose the motion detector could confirm itself too but that's a somewhat unlikely scenario.

it is hard to assess balance when town stomps, i think the power obviously had a cumulative strength since town rolled, the intention was building in some redundancy to counteract the no reveals + assimilation mechanics. I think, for instance, the 1-shot cop is much less powerful when getting a clear because town can't be assured the cop or his clear are legitimate, and even if they are, if they haven't been jumped on later days. motion detector in most instances is unlikely to get anything useful at all. i think probably the vig was underestimated in review where it was seen as being mostly antitown, which was probably not correct.

but yeah basically was counting on the prs being less useful than they actually were
