On the real though, I'm guessing that was something to do with the ??? phase but I'm not sure how.

the mechanics of this game are a big mystery

d3 not_mafia ended the day early with a hammer against spewed town lycanfire when lycan had one vote (mathblade). so it's some scum mechanics and he is still alive so we're flipping there.

other scum suspects are quiet owl, and I think titus and imaginality have quite a lot of non-town equity also. they're claimed in a 2-player neighborhood where both know that the other is town, but it's not masons (?). she is a night 4 suicide bomber, so I think she resolves today.

my problem with this is that we don't know what kind of redirections and other shenanigans scum might still possess. playing safe gives us a more guaranteed win, and titus can still suicide on a high scumread like quiet owl, or maybe resolve ranger who's been scumsiding a lot

As this is a bastard game, I would caution against making too many setup-based assumptions. It's possible the mafia team was oversized but had to sacrifice some number of members in phase ??? as a power balance. It seems unlikely to me that there were 3 town-directed mafia kills at once. Alignment changes or false flips are also a possibility.

Unless someone is planning to claim those kills.

Correct! This slot is the same slot as the Furtive one, it's now just Furtive+LLD. Furtive is signing as Summon and I'm signing as Phoenix.

I don't want to get mod killed so I won't give the specifics of the messages I got but I was browsing for my own games and suddenly got a PM inviting me to join a hydra... of a game currently on Night 3. I was super intrigued so I said ya sure why not, and here I am.

We should wait to see if anyone does. However, we had mostly not seen kills on prior nights and the guns were compulsive. It's

possible

that all of the guns were elected to fire the same night. There's no reason for a town player not to claim a gun, even if they shot foolishly. Hell, if you submitted an action on those slots even if you didn't think it was a gun, you should claim it.

I'm not thinking bastard flips though although the mod said anything is possible. I'm thinking town went likely chickens with it's head cut off but eventually started working together. When we started compromising, we started hitting scum.

my problem with this is that we don't know what kind of redirections and other shenanigans scum might still possess. playing safe gives us a more guaranteed win, and titus can still suicide on a high scumread like quiet owl, or maybe resolve ranger who's been scumsiding a lot

I have no interest in blowing up on Quite Owl based on the votes and Mathblade's attempt to wagon Quiet Owl towards EoD, but that would be something I'd compromise on push comes to shove, I doubt it's scum. I find it weird that Math and I originally went one way but flipped to the other way around. Math's not usually the type to distance so I find it odd so I can't quite rule out Quiet Owl but I'm not really thrilled with that wagon.

Since I damn well have to die, I'm picking someone who my townreads scumread at EoD that I find acceptable or completely going off reservation if I find them to be dumb. I'm not doing it on NM. That's worth a policy elimination but I strike for the head.

For me there is only two realistic options of what occured, given that we saw 2 townies flip, a ??? phase, and then 3 scum flip.

1) There was some kind of mechanic that removed bunch of scum at once as part of the ??? phase.
2) The ??? phase is connected to some kind of third party arsonist type player who got to do a special killing phase or something.

In either case, I sort of doubt this was the results of town shooting 3 scum correctly... and having it happen AFTER the 2 town deaths during night, and thus separate from the night kill assumedly as part of the ??? phase. It's something weird and fucky, and if no one claims to be responsible for the ??? phase, we should assume ill intentions from it I think, either third party or otherwise.
